Now it's actually 400, 401whp to be exact.
Installed a high flow catted down pipe and went back to the dyno.
Pretty happy with an extra 100whp from just a DP and a tune on 98.

Yesterday I hit my goal of a 66 at Barbagallos on street tyres.
That is 0.7 quicker than my PB in my e36 M3 track car which is over 250kgs lighter and on A050 R comps.
All with a car seat in the back as I dropped my daughter at day care on the way to the track.
Interestingly the tune didnít make much difference as top speeds on the straights were pretty much the same as when stock. Iím talking to the tuner as it works well for a quick squirt on the street but I think itís too aggressive for track work and multi gear pulls. Also constantly fighting BMWís post shift torque reduction strategies they have to protect the clutch and gearbox. They are extra noticeable with the tune.

I think time was made just from a better alignment and driving.

I am very impressed with the carís temperature management. I did one 10 minute and two 20 minutes sessions and oil and coolant temps didnít budge at all.

Only thing that could be better is the brakes. The MX72s arenít a proper track pad and while they didnít fail they arenít confidence inspiring and they did overheat and smear on the discs. And the front calipers are now a nice teal colour.

For those that understandably donít want to watch all 7 minutes of me going round and round, laps 5&6 are the quickest and Iím also chasing a 991.2 GT3 from Lap 4.

I was looking for the baby seat in the back! best ever

Just went back and had a look at your track map data interesting top speed on the straights is about same as mine when I was running mid 63's as we've said before add tyres and theres at 65 which is pretty crazy when you think about it

I like the idea of rocking up to track and doing nothing more than adjusting coilover damping and tyre pressure.
Yeah R comps, stiffer bushings, springs and maybe sway bars would make a huge difference.
    As would better brakes.
But it's still daily driven and I don't want to completely ruin it for that.

Top work! 66's on non R rubber is belting along. Hoping to make it out to next months tuning day on Friday, now I'm even more inspired.

So I put in proper front track pads (PFC08s) and new dimpled/slotted discs and went to a tuning session.
Brakes were much more confidence inspiring, but teal became brown.

No new personal best times, but lots of issue free laps were done.
    Such a good little car.

I also got a revised tune which got rid of cold start and addressed some other issues, looks like it gave a decent bump in power as well.
Previously I pretty consistently hit 210-212kmh on the back straight; going through the GPS data I hit a best of 216kmh this time and pretty consistently around 214kmh.

So I switched tuning platforms to something called Bootmod3.
Gives you much more control over various options, the ability to datalog and a bunch of Off The Shelf maps to suit most cars.
I'm getting an e85 tune done remotely but it's a long painful process and it's looking like the fuel system struggles to keep up with anything over stock boost levels on e85.

So I gave the OTS e30 map a try.

Picked up an extra 25whp compared to the old tune, and it was done with less boost.
More power everywhere and pulls harder to redline, I'm pretty happy with that, rear tyres are not

Here's a datalog for those interested.

    Co-worker has a 340i with same engine.

Tune and downpipe got him to 380 rwhp - is the auto very power hungry or is this a happy dyno?

As I see it, it has tune and downpipe only as well?

What tune is he running and did he get a dyno stock?
Mine made ~300whp bone stock and ~400whp with a DP and tune for 98 that I wasnít entirely happy with. I thought it ran too much boost and zero timing which was kind of confirmed by my latest tune making 25 more hp with 6psi less boost (22 vs 16psi).

    426whp was with 30% ethanol.
So a bit more aggressive than a normal ďstage 2Ē tune.

Iím also getting a custom tune done for straight E85 but I expect it will make less power as the fuel system canít really cope with much more than stock boost on straight E85 and there are no real fuel system upgrades available. The B58s making big power just spray a bunch of meth or fuel in the charge pipe which I donít want to do.

It really is an awesome, makes all road based cars feel like a boat.
No I don't own it, it is Arise Racing's car.
They do arrive and drive packages in Radicals and F1000s.

They do a lap challenge for Telethon which is how I got into it.
I enquired about doing a full season but it was out of my budget.
Someone was going to miss the April meet so I was able to rent their car as a once off, still not cheap.

Itís a really well run operation. Cars are kept in top condition and you donít have to worry about anything except driving.
They give you coaching using data from the car which is super helpful.
I dropped from doing 61s in practice to 57.98 in qualifying, and was still leaving a lot on the table according to the data.

There was a young guy doing 55s and mixing it with the F1000s!

Us amateurs in the three Radicals at the back were very evenly matched so actually got to do some racing.
We finished Race 3 with 1.1 seconds between the three of us!
It was a great experience for my first time doing a proper race.

Pretty serious first car to do a race in, great effort to keep it tidy and bring it home with a good result.
Its my first year racing this year too but im in bunkies, still having way more fun than any track day in faster cars. Any temptations to sign up for a category next year? Did the bug bite hard enough?

    What are you racing?
I will definitely be racing more at some point.
F1000s if I find unlimited budget, but more likely the e36 will eventually become a IP or Street Car.
Have to get it back together and running first.

It's a shame all the fast cars are so expensive!
I looked at IP but way out of my budget. I'm racing saloon cars, was looking at excels but I bought a saloon for under 6k.. cheap, very competitive racing and a great bunch of peeps to race with and glad I made that choice.
BMW would be awesome in IP. The M3? racing on the weekend in IP was sick, but it looked like a boring race for the driver.
