    Help learn me on scooters

I'm looking at picking up a cheap shitter scooter to get me to/from the traino for work.

    What's rego worth on a 50cc scooter?
What's 3rd party insurance typically worth?
What should I look at buying? The cheaper the better, as I only have a 4.5km trip each way - there appears to be a fair few on gumtree at the $500 price?

    Cheers pingpingpingpings!

Go get some motorbike Lessons to learn some road craft so you don't end up dead. This should be a non negotiable. Irrelevant that you don't actually need a special license imo

Step 1: Buy Yamaha Aerox 50cc liquid cooled
Step 2: Install 70cc kit, carb, exhaust and relevant gearing
Step 3: Enjoy 110+km/h and blowing away cars at lights

I did this a few years back, mine topped out at 120km/h and it got there quick.

But seriously I would recommend a Yamaha Jog or equivalent Taiwanese 'TGB'.

Try stick to Japanese or Taiwanese scooters over Chinese.

They are great fun and cost close to nothing to fill up.

Step 1 - Realize scooters are rubbish
Step 2 - Take your Jeep instead
Step 3 - Spend scooter money on Porsche
Step 4 - Buy the missus a little run around (Like Tristan's Mitishitti) so you can keep the Jeep to yourself
Step 5 - Continue to win at life !

For the extra $500 buy a Honda CT110. At least you wheels that won't make you stack it on a pot hole.

I'll be catching the train into work 3 days a week in the new year, not keen to leave the jeep at the train station to get fucked in the sun/bumped into by numpties. The cost of a shitter car isn't worth it (due to rego/insurance), and I'm not going to cycle the 4.5km in a suit + tie. A scooter should do the quick trip easy enough, doesn't involve getting a bike license, and should be cheap enough to allow me to tinker with the Porsche.

    You are missing the point.

Trains are for dardys, me when I've broken things and drop cars of at LF and generally filthy piss stained "peasants" as Mr Saltrust would say.

Drive to work, enjoy the comfort of aircon, tunes, heated and cooled seats and best of all non stop thongs.

I have a Yamaha aerox 100 that I might be letting go, needs the front master cylinder rebuilt and new rear brake shoes.

being 100cc it gets away from traffic easy and will do 90kph all day long
I do have a bike license but I have never been checked on it.
    Still rego'd
Let me know if you are keen

Just get any cheap thing, it's a scooter, it's to do a short traino run. Who gives a shit what it is.

Do make sure it is mech sound, tyres and brakes in good cond.

Roadcraft will come pretty quick once you start riding it, treat every car like they are trying to kill you. Because chances are they will try. And don't do dumb shit.

Other then that helis in the Jeep, play cupid for Buckets & Riz, pull orange pop stick out of suggestion jar etc.

I'll be working in West Perth, not keen to deal with parking and fighting peak hour traffic every day. Any other commute, I'd still daily the Jeep, but it doesn't make sense for West Perth/CBD.

Get a cheap 250 and ride the whole way to work spend less on fuel than the Train and generally look bad ass!

This. Don't have to try cram onto a peak time train, sometimes missing it due to how packed it is. Don't have to deal with idiots yelling out their racist taunts at random people on the train (usually numerous "white dawwwwwg kaaaarnts" comments), you can just enjoy the ride.

Bike costs me $14 a fortnight to fill up. Train was costing me $8-$10/day.

Or just ride your scooter into West Perth and have the comfort of going anywhere you need to quickly and easily anyway.

Just go FIFO again, avoid parking problems and gridlock getting to East Perth ?

You even get a free Toyota to abuse !

Tyrone is correct though 250 > Scooter. Even you are not gay enough for a scooter.

Not keen on getting a 250 or my bike license.. I'm dumb enough in a car, I'll hurt myself on a proper motorbike (if not run over by a bus).

As far as I can tell, to ride a scooter on a car license it has to be 50cc and can't do more than 50km/h, fuck going from Cockburn to West Perth with a top speed of 50km/h.

250cc solves that issue for you straight away.

If I've survived on a 250cc for over a year now (and I'm pretty fucking stupid to be honest) - you'll be fine.

Jess has you insured for more than you're worth, get the bike.

Get a 250cc bike and keep the number plate straight.

Bigger capacity is definitely the go. But if you cant be bothered with ballache of getting bike license then 50cc it is. Not a fan as you will struggle to leave a set of lights at a sensible speed and keep up with traffic. although tricked up 50cc sounded like the best idea of a bad bunch.

I really rate my scooter. (200cc Aprillia) Its a slut. Let anyone ride it. Park it anywhere. Give no fucks if damaged. Tip $8 of fuel in it every few weeks. Rarely sees a service.

Have you thought about an E bike. Might be a few more $ but opens up bike paths etc. They will hit mid 30 kmh... no rego. ...no insurance... no fuel...no servicing... If its only 4.5km would easily smash that return trip.
