So keen. Will go have a look tomorrow night and then tee something up. I suspect an informal AL challenge will be the go!

I sort out everyone going out onto the track in the staging lanes so if you want to "race together" just give me a shout and ill make it happen but can also say its a bucket load of fun being out there! Next round is reverse direction so its not the same track every time.

Not many, only seen one recently and that was a gravel rally car. The most common cars are excels, late 90s lancers, couple of pulsars and there are a couple of WRX's that are regulars.

If you are looking to win the night, you'll probably need something AWD. Saying that, the last round of last season was won by a lancer with r-comps on it. When there is a field of 30 or more, the track tends to get very grippy towards the end of the night.

To me a cheap, competitive car will be something light, and has some form of LSD in it.

This is regy and my shitter. $200 gumtree special. We didn't buy it to be competitive (obviously), just for some fun, we only did 1 event but had a really good time. It will return next event hopefully with a handbrake that works better.

To be honest we didn't even really look at the times of the other cars until the end of the night as we were too busy battling eachother. Would be epic if you had 4 people sharing the one car as it only comes down the driver(no bs excuses).
Our best lap times where within a tenth of eachother.

Here is a vid for anyone who wants to know what it's like. Skip forward 30seconds and excuse the sloppy driving.

I was looking at cheap fwd cars... but watching that i think fun is overcoming competitiveness, rwd looks so much more fun! Gee a cheap unrego'd s13 would be pretty cool.

Don't go FWD. It is plain wrong. Fast, and fun it can be, sure. But you need RWD. Problem is getting mid 80's RWD snotbags is pretty hard now. Commode/Falc would do. Auto is not problem. We always just leave the car in 2nd gear with manuals anyways, so not like you're enjoying the purist manual experience at all.... Actually, the term 'purist experience' has no place at these events.

You may be faster in a car with money and time spent on it, but I'll never know. I think we get pretty good results from zero dollars racing, we tend to finish in the top 1/3 of RWD cars typically. It comes down to not caring if you win or bin. Normally, you tend to back off if not sure of making the corner. But with nothing to loose, you don't lift. If you get lucky, you get a good time in a crap car. Or you smash tyre barriers into next week. Either way is winning!

FWIW my wife says I should forget racing my GT and just do this stuff instead. Apparently I'm far happier and less stressed after smashing out time sand panels in a bunky than finding excuses for not winning and tearing up $100's in the GT. She could have a point there...but why not have both (insert meme here etc.).

Needs a few things fixed up then good to go? What? Surely you meant needs a few things smashed off to reduce weight/ugliness. Dunno if possible to remove the ugly from those things, but will be fun watching you restyle it, I'm sure! Washing an autocross car? Again, what!? Have you been paying attention to anything about the way autocross works, at all?

Hanging for December event already... we're in with Team Panel Beater!
