    Solar Power (PV)

Green Energy WA focuses on mid range to premium brands in the market all with Australian headquarters.

Canadian Solar, Jinko, Hanwha, Q-Cells, ABB & SMA are some of the common brands we sell.
We also have access to several other brands if you have preferences.
GEWA has over 7 years experience and several members on here who will testify towards the product and installation quality.

Quotations are free so please send me across a PM or email me at j.thraves@gewa.com.au
We offer domestic (up to 5kW) and commercial options (>5kW up to 30kW).

If you have any generic questions then they can be asked in the thread.

It depends on the system size (from 1.6kW to 5.3kW) and brand you are going for of course.
Systems start from $2500, that is the the cheapest stuff I would install on someone's roof, not the cheapest on the market, up to as high as $9000 for the largest premium systems.
The pricing I've mentioned is including all installation and after government rebates.

Are you aware of the new micro inline invertors?
I just had two power bills in a row over $550 so keen for more info.

Hi protecon, to be honest we've only ever installed one of those types of systems and I refuse to sell another because of the problems we've had with it for the past 3 years. We were told they were the future back then and all I've found is that they are not a very reliable product and constantly cause us headaches. Although technology hopefully has improved with them I don't see any advantage in using them, they are very painful to fix when they go wrong!
If you'd like some further information on pricing please email me a copy of your power bill and what rough % of usage is done during the day time and night time. I'll get back to you with some options to help manage your bill.

Hey mate could i please get a price on a 3kw (presuming 12x250w panels) system with the 5kw upgradable inverter including installation costs. What kind of warranty do the panels and inverter come with?

    PM sent mate.
Standard warranties are 10 years on the panels and 5 years on the inverter. There are optional extensions on the SMA inverter though.

No problems mate! Glad it is all sorted.
That is the reason you are now not allowed to install panels before Western Power approve the job and change over the meter, to ensure that the grid can handle whatever you are planning on putting into it.

We are running a promotion over the next few months for those who are interested in getting into solar without having to pay the upfront costs, if you'd like me to analyse your situation and recommend a system that would offer optimal payback periods and return on investment then please email me on j.thraves@gewa.com.au

    2 Questions:

1)What is the current expected lifetime of batteries?

2)When I looked at solar maybe 8 years ago, there was a hefty connection feed if you wanted to feed in to the grid. Is this still the case?

Battery life spans depend on what you choose but 5-15 years tends to cover the majority. It is more important to consider the payback period of them which in most residential scenarios (benefit of ~18c per kWh) makes it very unattractive. Battery back up systems may be more common in around 5 years when the products are more competitive. They can always be retrofitted to systems.

The only connection fee is changing your meter which ranges from $66 to $265 depending on your existing meter and if you have single phase or three phase power so it's very minimal and I can advise you of the exact cost before proceeding.

    Haha that is good timing!
I'm out of the office nearly all day so you can all expect replies after 5pm tonight, if anyone wants to speed up the process send me the front page of your power bill or average units (kWh) per day with the email.

Thanks for the feedback Tris, I concur on installation comment, it's not just my hands though, I am useless at manual labour all together!

What sort of council approval do you need to install a wad of panels on your roof?

Usually no council approvals, although some suburbs do not want panels on the front of the home this is rare.
The approval process lies with Synergy and then Western Power, both of which we complete for you before installing anything on the roof.
