I love Jeeps but TJ's scare me - are they really a fuel guzzling shitbox?

Bit of gearing helps. I'll get around 300 ungeared on 33s, just never use 5th cause it bogs down at about 1100rpm.

Mine isn't a daily so I don't really care on the economy side, heck probably leaves the shed 2-3 times a month

Seen a few on FB marketplace around $5-$6k running and licensed. Figured they'd be alright. Don't mind doing a bit of work on it and wouldn't mind a bunky again.

Is the V6 Vitara the turbo one? Don't know my Suzuki's to be honest though I've followed Pete's thread with interest.

I won't be using it as a daily but not sure on the Jeeps. Did the 3 door Pajero's SWBs come in the early 90s as well?

No turbos in older Vitaras, best to look for something with a G16B, only the Grand Vitara got V6s.

Bought a Yakima roof cargo bag to increase the carry capacity of the small SWB when required. Works great.

That's a pity, I've got a rust-free 160,000kms 1985 Rangie I need to get rid of soon, no motor or box so perfect for LSing...

If anyones looking for a toy, mates selling his TJ with LS1, rebuilt manualised 4l60e, front lunchbox locker in a trussed diff. Car has won Rocks n Ruts 4wd comp last year, only car to beat Mudlust which has never lost until this time.

Sucks ass to do it but he has to sell as he's been shipped off to Melbourne and can only take his LS2 JKU.

PM me and i'll pass his number across, or it's on Perth Jeep Community on FB.

IMHO he's selling it way too cheap considering the man hours we put into the thing, but that's life. He had bulk messages about it, i think it will go pretty quick.

Just bought this 2009 Merc GL320 turbo diesel, not bought for serious offroading, but they are very capable according to you tube lol.

Comes stock with air suspension (set to low in pic), 7 speed auto, low range transfer, centre & rear Diff locks.

Really wanted it for the best 7 seat layout in any 4wd, comfy ride & towing (3450 kg) for my boat. Gets 10l/100 around town, heaps of grunt.

Cost me $21k which is probably 1/2 the cost of a 09 Sahara but it cost over $140k new, so good depreciation lol.

Might be a risky purchase, but time will tell.
