Haha the word VR4 has been catch phrase of the day.

Wont be happening. I just need something reliable and comfy for the daily grind.

You can't fix your toy car, there's no chance you're modding your daily.

Pretty straight, pretty clean inside. Drives a shitload better then the rolla and has more room which is win win for me.

Needs a few bits - power window switch and fuel sender. But the motor is clean as and doesnt show a drop of oil so im happy. While spin 3rd in the wet, which is good and bad at the same time.

    Needs a stereo bad!

    (pic added TJ)
LOL how many bunky shitters do you have in total now tj? What happened to the rolla with fake tan stained seats?

Chris - Rolla is sold pending payment - dont need it now.

Still got the handpainted vn show car - that gets used to drive the dogs around

Oh and the king bunky, the liberty - its sitting under a tarp in the driveway.

Paul, good for a giggle, bad when you pull out near traffic and try to get moving

Andrzej decided to bless it tonight by getting in it and dropping a burnout off limter... its pretty damn big!

Picked this rare shitter up last week.

    Pros:
    RWD
    Manual
    Rare
    Insane in the wet
Roomy as (Dont park next to me, doors are freakin huge)
Cheaps as all hell to insure
    Has mega sleepy potential

    Cons:
    Its 28years old
    Steering wheel is truck like
    Pedals are too wide
    Steering isnt responsive enough
Needs another 200+ horsepower so it behaves in the dry as it does now in the wet
Pending performance: Credit card will wear out quickly

    Plans:
    Finding 200+ more horsepower
    Options are endless..........

    my bunky. 94 cruiser.

    Good
It climbs big rocks really well
    It drives through mud
    It smashes roos
    It's unbreakable (Tojo power)

    Bad
    It's slow
    It's thirsty
    Gearbox like a Kenworth

But for Karratha she's just fine, can't imagine having anything else up here!

my bunky/daily (but more of a weekly as i work away)

    2002 GXL 100series Landcruiser

    Pro's
It can drive over big things (curbs, rocks, furry cute domesticated animals, small children and the like and not feel a thing).
Plenty of room for stuff when fishing or camping or spare parts and stuff.

    Cons
    Big
Diesel ( sometimes a little sluggish around town)

Hey guys, just a pic of my Liberty (daily) that I thought I would post up.
Had it for about 2 years now.
Stock apart from coilovers, rims, big exhaust tip (ooooh yeah) and 5% tint
For the stereo, I have put in a JVC DVD up front with a 7 inch screen. Alpine DD drives in the 4 doors and Kenwood 7 inch screens in each headrest for the kids.
I have no other plans for this car as its great to drive, great on fuel and very quiet to drive (not like the rex)

wasn't there a factory turbo of this model?
i seem to remember an old mate igor dreaming of getting one
looks like it'd be a fun car and definately different
can the 5 pot turbo in the newer cars be converted to rwd using stock box or something?

Yes there was, but it was only availiable in the US/Europe in limited numbers. In 1985 they used to race the belgium built 242 but labeled it a "240 2dr LHD turbo" around bathurst. They had a win in 86' beating the the likes of bmw 635CSI etc.

In regards to the 5Cylinder, yes it has been done. But its trouble. The 242 is NS and the 850 is EW configuration. The easiest engine swap is a small block V8 or a V6 volvo motor. Im currently doing some research, considering 1J, Gen3 V8, ultimately a 1UZ twin turbo or supercharged. But legally speaking its probably not possible as the 242 weighs in @ 1300kg. Yerp, something different!

yeah i realised the 242 was a ns and 850 ew fwd spec but it's not uncommon for people to do conversions using fwd motor in rwd configuration, toyo 20 valve 4age's probably being most common
i reckon it'd be worth going for a turbo motor in it though, anyone can chuck a v8 or jap motor in something these days
to get chopped by a quick volvo using a volvo motor would bring lots of joy haha
and lots of surprised faces too i bet

I agree mate, staying true to one manufacturer makes an impressive build but, I already get that good feeling in my 850R. Stock spec + stereoh surprises many.
