Something like that TJ. Both are easy to maintain, would be simple to ride, both have good warranty and plenty of shops in Perth so you can try and get them down in Price, especially over Christmas time.

Also try Merida, Avanti ( plenty of stores, both used to be made by Specialized until about a year ago ).

1k for a daily roller is heavy. As has been mention of this thread before, Gumtree is your friend! Can pick up some really decent bikes cheap cheap.

29s are only good for rolling over bigger rocks, which you should be whipping over anyway.

    hehe.

Keen to have a go at a goldsprint. Can personally say I will need a dyno fan and several towels to do it though. Sweat like a rapist on rollers.

Disagree, rode a couple on the weekend, no doubt they let you carry speed quicker

Ride one on a trail and see which is quicker. I rode a Lynskey Ti 29er in Brisbane and I was quicker on my 26er hardtail.

It was at the Specialized test day at Camel Farm so on a trail i know reasonably well.
Probably also depends on your riding style. I know for me and a couple of other roadie mates we were definitely quicker than on our 26'ers.

Might also help that is was a 10kg S-Work Epic we were riding though
