Chasing a MTB for cruising around town to help with the fitness kick
Don't really want to spend anymore then $500 unless someone knows a place that does GE interest free period stuff?

Fleet Cycles do, one in Freo, also few up Perth do.
Cyclemania do too.
Verdict on the clip on tri-bars are they are a bit awkward, so am going to tilt and move the seat forward a little bit and see how it goes
Escalated my Paypal claim for the wrong brakes as the seller has not responded - so I might end up with my cash back + free Elixir 5's. (Will still buy some R's when I get my money back).
Anyway...fitted the Elixir 5's for the hell of it and did a lap of Forsyth on Friday - more power and feel than the old Juicy 5's I had. Also swapped the 2.25 Crossmark on the front for a 2.3 Ignitor - Feeling pretty confident in hard cornering in the dust/sand now. The downside is that it's 300grams heavier as it's a UST tyre (still running a standard tube)
Still insanely unfit...too many stops to catch my breath and have a drink.

Was at Forsyth last Sunday, was a great ride. I did it in about 40 minutes but im bulk unfit too and it was the 2nd time i'd ridden in about 10 years. Had a mate's hardtail but just picked up a 2011 Trek 6000 second hand, will get some pics up soon. Reasonable spec's SRAM X5 running gear, Avid Juicy 3 hydro brakes, RockShox Tora TK, etc...

Will last me until i decide to go full suspension. However I do know of a 2010 Giant Anthem X1 that is under $1500 which is mighty tempting..
Heh. I almost rode over a pretty sizable python late last year at Goatfarm. Still have no idea how I stopped on the bike so quickly!
S_E (who is on here) and I goto Forsyth every now and then, maybe a bit more often now with the cooler weather. Will give you guys a heads up if you're keen for a lap or two next time.
Went for a ride to the hills on Tuesday morning.

Been thinking about selling my Specialized.
Its just an insane price which is tempting. I think i'll hold out on the Trek for a while until 29er's start coming down in price and entering the second hand market. Wouldnt mind trying Giant's XTC 29er though.
If anyone wants a new 29er hardtail the GT Karakoram 1.0 is nice spec's and can probably be had for under $1k on sale!
anyone got a 34T front chain ring they want to sell? or swap for a 38T e-thirteen one which is 4 rides old?
also after a half decent rear disc brake kit. already have 8" funn drop offs but they dont work so have the rotors and mounts already if anyone has a lever and caliper setup. prefer new.
CRC 2011 Juicy 3 - 67 bucks each end. Equiv of the Elixer 5s.
get whatever size they have in stock and use the spacers/rotors you have now.
edit : just got this in the inbox then :

Ah fair enough, cheers for the heads up marc
I had a look on ebay/bikeexchange/gumtree for the past couple of months and most seemed to be $1500+ for average condition 2010 so i thought it was a bargain at $1200 for one in mint condition.
Anyways it'll be a long time before i upgrade, still gotta get myself a commute bike for when i move. In the meantime im keen to try out a 29er just to see how much of a noticeable difference it makes.
Just ordered the new bike:
2011 Cannondale SuperSix Hi-Mod
Full SRAM Red
Arrives 3rd May from the US, should be pretty ok!
Tried to true the rims on the old Indi 500 I'm restoring...spoke nipples are corroded to the point that my spoke spanner rounds them. So I am in need of a decent pair of 27" wheels. Needs to have the screw on fitting for a 5-6speed cassette, also bolt on hubs, not quick release.
May consider 700c wheelsets if my brakes have enough drop for the pads.
I can get a new pair of 27" wheels, alloy rims, S/S spokes and steel hubs for ~$150 off ebay, but thought I'd check here first![]()
Ive got a norco with some 27" wheels you might be interested in..
Ive just been keeping an eye out for pick ups for a seat (im using the seatpost on another of my bikes) that will fit and then i was going to chuck it on gumtree for ~$100ish. So probably take the whole thing for $80 if your keen? The wheels are good, I used to ride this into the city for work, both tyres are pretty much new aswell (maybe 100kms).
