I met Dave from from Empire Cycles on a ride last week. Good bloke and his shop sounds bonza. Reckons he's got a coffee machine also.

Picked up a new treadly today. 2017 Giant Trance Advanced 1. Before it was even built I purchased the following items for it:
Easton Haven 35 Carbon Riser Bar
Race Face Turbine R Stem (40mm)
    Spank Spoon Pedals
    Lizard Skins Northshore Lock-On grips
    Race Face Crank Boots
Got some Cygolite lights coming in the mail too for a bit of summer time pavement bashing when I can't sleep at night.

Excuse the photo quality, it seems it has been hit by the Instacompress filter.

I haven't ridden a bike for 8 years so it's going to be seeing pavement for a bit first and then some very tame fire roads/singletrack.

Yep or Marrinyup trail is great. If you've got kids take them.

    This.

    Park at Bellevue RSL.

    1.5hrs uphill (very gradual).

Stop at Mount Helena pub for beer and feed (don't wear lycra).

    Easy roll back down.

Much like Craig haven't been near a bike for years, I've this for about a month now, slowly increasing my ride lengths, and really enjoying riding.

Dont park at Bellevue RSL if you like your car. Darlington Post Office is a more secure parking area

Who here has had experience buying complete bikes from overseas stores such as Chain Reaction etc?
From my understanding complete bikes are exempt from duty but you'll pay GST and some other fees on arrival?
Asking because I ordered the 2018 Nukeproof Mega Carbon last night. It won't make me ride like Sam Hill, but at least I'll look good doing it.

Thats news to me that complete bikes are exempt from duty. But in saying that YT and Canyon bikes dont incur a duty charge if im not mistaken. Cool bike none the less.

Edit: found afew threads on rotorburn about it. https://www.rotorburn.com/forums/sho...ht=Import+duty

Had the new bike for a few weeks now. Damn its a different beast compared to my old Anthem. Wee bit of an overkill for most things at the Camel Farm, but it's perfect for smashing laps of the valley.

Yeah it's matt gunmetal and raw carbon, you can see it better in the below pic.. It was delivered 8 days after purchasing which is quicker than I expected.
It cost me 5800 incl. shipping online then I payed 663 in fees which was GST and a couple of smaller charges (no duty) so not too bad really.

Those Malvern Star frames were designed by one of the best carbon gurus in Australia.

There is a pretty interesting write up about it somewhere.

What running gear is going on it?

Looks nice and classy without having a over the top colour scheme.

When the turbo on the car went 3 wks before RW17, there was a slight requirement for funds which ended up in me selling the Trek.

Now I kinda have a working Track Car I wanted a new bike, I don't get out as much as I like but I do enjoy having the option.
Collected on Tuesday, couple of small rides so far

Come for a ride next weekend. I've been going solo lately and it's boring, although my Strava times say otherwise lol
