I couldn't help myself, so spent $35 on these.

Ti bolt kit for Avid brakes (levers and calipers).

Will get to the rotor bolts/stem etc later on.

Quick question guys n girls. Looking at getting another bike. Been out of it for the last 10 or so years and not sure on whats good and whats not anymore. Hell when I was riding still, the FOES Weasel had only just been released.

Basically looking at a freeride hardtail setup, decent gearset/cranks etc.

Mainly gonna be used to aid in the fitness thing, but will no doubt try and relive my younger (read: fitter) days of heading out the the goatfarms/chittering etc once in a while.

    Ideas? forums etc to visit?

    Cheers
    Shane

    www.perthmtb.com also

sounds like you want a DJ/street bike, as most "Freeride" bikes are 5-7" travel both ends these days.

Fuck. Really? I have been out of it for too long. I remember when I swapped from my old Rock Shox mag21's to a set of extended Judy SL's and I thought they had heaps of travel... HA.

Cheers guys will start looking around.

Been thinking of getting some decent riding shoes for a while (for platform pedals, Not SPD), casual looking. Any suggestions?

Need to have something with decent support and sole, at the moment, I find that for prolonged periods standing off the saddle, my feet start to hurt (flexible shoes = feet arching over pedals = fucking sore feet).

just realised that this thread existed.

if any of you guys are familiar with The Bicycle Entrepreneur (four stores across perth) - I'm a sales rep at the Nedlands store, right next to the Porsche dealership on Stirling Highway.

If you're in pursuit of anything; whether it be entire bikes or parts/framesets, or servicing - come see me. I'll sort you out We're essentially perth's biggest retailer of Giant, however - we deal from Avanti/Specialized all the way up to Santa Cruz.

Just ask after Taylor, if i'm not in - speak to Rupert.

I think my mate just dropped his Giant off to get fixed - he pulled hubs apart to grease them and the front was missing bearings lol.

I think more manufacturing defect, as I assume Giant would ship complete wheelsets with their bikes.

    Got the frame back

I fitted the linkages and shock tonight. Pressing the bearings into the rear swingarm is a pingpingpingping of a job (even after shaving back part of the paint where they sit). Anyone have a proper bearing press?

Forsyth's Mill is in Chidlow - turn off Great Eastern Hwy at Gorry/Gorrie Road (it's a BBQ/Picnic sign)

Goatfarm is Greenmount Rise - corner of Scott St and Great Eastern Hwy

Langford Park is located on Nettleton Road in Jarrahdale

Little Ovens/The Dell - Park at the Dell and jump on the Munda Biddi heading south. as soon as you cross Mundaring Weir Rd you will come to a fire trail and you turn left. You will see little Yellow square signs with Little Ovens and Kalamunda Circuit. Follow the Little Ovens and you will climb up to the top of Mt Gungin

I think Littles is closed atm for burning.

Finally got the bearings all pressed in. Used some threaded rod with a series of washers/spacers etc.

Problem I face now is the light powder coating that got onto the first few threads in the bottom bracket. I'm going to try some gasket remover as that supposedly removed backed on crap. Failing that - I might have to head out to a bikeshop.

How do you find the Gobi saddle? Contemplating on getting one after seeing the hype from a few people on another forum.
