And I'd disagree haha
My fitness wasn't and isn't exactly great but as long as you pick your line all the single track we've done I don't think Joe would struggle on. Dual suspension annoys me with the power loss. Whilst its comfier I don't think it's nesecsarily better on a single track style road.
However throw in jumps or drops in a downhill scenario and I'd for sure be going down the dual route
Eric from Collie Cycles owns a Surly, and has won many comps on it. It's insane, stuff that. Stick to my dually !
mitchy - do som emore research about those niner forks - read about alot of them failing when i was researching for mine. I went with trigon's
have seen a few reports of that... but every time i see the words bike and carbon together, someone always mentions it exploding.
i dare say mine will barely, if ever touch a trail though. the 29er will be for cruising around.... like it is now.
will look into trigons though! i just love the look of the white and carbon, so hot...

I think I just bought the Commencal. Again. Maybe.
Sending money before he changes his mind again.
I'm not as silly as you think.
Just ordered niner forks and going to go anodize crazy.
Purpo anno always seems to suit

cant! hardtail has red bits in the paint, dually has green.
althought i still want to powder coat at least one of them matte white...
Got my bike back on Saturday and raced D grade in the SPR/RCCC Crit at Technology Park.
I really had no idea what to expect going in, so my plan was just to stay with the bunch and not get dropped (I figured I could start to think about strategy once I've actually finished one).
The pace was decent, I think I averaged 34km/h for the 30 minutes. I rode in the front 1/4 of the group (I think there were about 15-16) but on the bell lap I didn't really try anything and finished up around 9-10th.
It was awesome fun and I will definitely head out again.
I saw you on youtube. you look hammered![]()
Went back to KC on the weekend, 3 reps up Rocky Balboa and down Mercury, bit of Lancasters and I'm feeling much more comfortable on the downhills. Now the boring routine of S&E intervals, enduro sessions and begin the ramp up for Tour De Perth :-(
Was at Bivouac in northbridge on saturday pre-laneway, Spotted this thing in the alleyway on the way to the loo.
thought it was pretty fucking cool. Turns out it belonged to a waitress in there, she seen me looking at the pic on my phone and asked if I was planning on steeling it haha
Looks like a China fixie to me.. Definitely pre built (reflectors, long brake cables, bright colour chain and tyres)..
Also 43mm rims with machined braking surface are generally China too (all the legit high end 43mm rims have no brake surfaces).
Looks cool, would be heavy as shit though :-)
Still looks a million times better than my brother's china fixie he picked up for $250 (I actually went with him to pick it up...but was too hungover at the time to tell him it was shit)
Rims are near 100mm deep, painted braking surface...so the brakes don't really work, the squealing sound is more effecting than a bell though.
Hubs don't roll smoothly (my 30 year old Shimano 600 hubs that have only been serviced once in their life roll better).
80mm stack of headset spacers
40degree rise, 100mm stem.
Managed to convince him to swap the lame riser bars for some bullhorns....still working on better stem/slam setup![]()
Went for a ride this morning ... riding down the DNA Tower hill @ Kings Park on a road bike SUCKS hahaha. I pretty much had to let go of the bars so my hands didn't rattle apart
Mrs rear shock blew up too, pissed fluid and air out the pro-pedal lever$200 rebuild FTL.
All Kings Park roads are stupidly harsh on a roadie. Nice altitude changes/flow though.
