Pulled the Specialized off the rack for the first time since June last year. Yeah, I'm that slack and unfit atm. Think i'll have to spend 1/2 of tomorrow giving it a proper service, chain looks horrible, front hub feels notchy ( probably needs strip down and regrease ), and back brake now touches the bars.

Oops. Atleast I rode the Dobermann once or twice last year around the block. This year, in amongst building the project car and playing coporate golf, I want to rie as much as possible, like I used to.

Just finished a 3hr session at Camelfarm, was epic - learnt a lot, came off a couple of times but nothing more than a scratch. Thoroughly enjoyable, but there's no way I can keep up with the MTB dudes going downhill lol

    Rode ~54km today.....Kingsley > City > City Beach > Hillarys > Home.

Feeling pretty good, just need to swap that hardtail for a road bike.

CAAD is in the shop getting the BB30 noise fixed for a second time. Still loving the bike though.
Need to work on my core strength so I can "slam that stem" (I have one of their top caps sitting on my desk).

Started group riding and am really wondering why I didn't start sooner, not anywhere near as tricky or nerve wracking as I thought it would be.
Been riding with SPR on their Saturday morning rides, started with Transitional but just moved up to Main 3.

Entering my first race (technology park criterium) next weekend (10th Feb) and am going to HRT up D grade.

I ride sometimes with SPR. Good turnout but their Saturday ride routes don't seem to do it for me (that said I haven't actually done any, just gone off the map, maybe tomorrow....). Their Sunday hills rides are awesome though.

I'm thinking about entering that crit too.

The Saturday rides would be pretty sketchy on your own as they take some pretty busy roads that I wouldn't be keen on riding without the safety in numbers. I've been meaning to do a Sunday hills ride. If you do head out to a ride/race come and say hi.

Also, I spoke too soon. Turns out the noise isn't just the bearings this time. My non drive crank arm (FSA SL-K Lights) is broken and needs to be replaced under warranty. The carbon has unbonded from the metal spine. Apparently it will be ready for the crit next weekend but I'm a little worried that I will turn up without riding the entire week before.

Don't be worried about a break - rest and recovery is underrated in cycling and often neglected. A week off and you'll find you are more than likely faster than if you had trained for part of the week (depending on your training program of course!).

I only just noticed that all Giants are 29ers now (other than the Reign and Glory).

How massive are the bloody forks?

650b's are starting to become common....at least 27.5" isn't too big.

Will stick to 26" though, it's not like they'll ever stop.

Anyone else here feel somewhat scared riding non tubless specific tyres in tubless config?

I ended up going over the handle bars not long ago at slow speeds while turning and on the breaks on bitumen and can only think that the tyre lost its bead seal resulting in rapid loss of air.

Have been riding last 700ish km with non tubless ready furious freds without a drama however they feel alittle sketchy with soft sidewalls and I have now swapped over to Marathon supremes (Slicks) for inceased speed on way to work but yet to ride other then up and down the street.

I only fitted them last night and have pumped them up twice now as they have not fully sealed with the stans sealant but the first ride to work is going to be nervous no doubt hoping that they stay on and dont burp off or roll off the rip under cornering

Don't know much about tubeless setups, but I'm under the impression you need to pump them up pretty quickly for some success (ie: Air compressor).

My UST tyres with rim strips I pumped up with a floor pump no worrries, I found using soapy water helped the bead seating process.

    TCR looks good!

Think the Giant factory backed sale is on late Feb/early March...generally ~20% off most bikes. Might be a good time for me to pick up a Defy 1 alloy, or the lower end carbon one.

Defy3 Composite. Can pick one up for sub-$1500 at the moment. Tiagra running gear though I think.
