So, the basics - it's a twin-turbo 2.0-litre four-pot turbodiesel. 157kW and 500Nm.

unsure why junk, had one for 18 months in vanuatu albeit a mid level 3.2L version
Did skids
nice commuter
had all the mod cons required
way better then a fucking hilux
Junk, because can't afford it?
Even if it was 4 cylinder boosted petrol it would have been better associated to the Raptor tag and have a better sounding exhaust possible. Will be interesting to read more reviews once out. Does it still come with 3.5T brake towing capacity lol
Pretty sure being designed to run at 170kph off-road comfortably is balls out!
Put any engine in front of a 10 speed with short ratios is also going to feel prompt, especially when it has 500Nm available from low revs.
2.3L ecoboost in the RS has lag in third gear low speed corners (50kph around a corner and tromp it, keep waiting, waiting, waiting)... guarantee the 2L twin turbo in this will not suffer similar effects.
I doooouuuubt this. That ride height does not screen 170kph off road comfortably. Unless crazy long arm IFS and they also got coils in the rear.

It doesn't even come levelled out. Fucking JUNK as TJ said.
And why are you in 3rd at 50km/hr and not expecting lag lol
Fail.
2.0l and 10 speed would still be better then the current Ranger tho, which isnt hard as the 3.2 motor is a boat anchor and the 6 speed box is offensively bad. There's something wrong with the thing that ford refuses to knowledge. My brothers one and a few others ive drive have some sort of problem where the converter just slips to much. Its like its got a 2200rpm high stall. Ford fixed it a few times and its better but not great. Ive been in maybe 6 of them and 3-4 have done it.
With the the gearbox issues and engine's that pinging so hard under load ( plenty of them have put rods out the block) they're a shit car. The funny thing is they're probably still better then a hilux.
Ive always whinged about this, but all the 4wds are so under powered. I want a duel cab with something like the audi v8 diesel. I might be in the minority of sales but i want more power, lots more. Housemates vf ss commodore is so much nicer to tow with then a Ranger, which shouldnt be.
I thought Ranger Raptor was going to be the solution. ecoboost 3.5 10 speed, winning. 2litre shitbox..yeah na.
How long till these start throwing rods out the blocks, I don’t give a fuck how many hundreds of gears you throw behind it, a 2l diesel is a shit choice, how hard is it pushed to make that power? throw a boat behind it on a hot summers day, going uphill, game over.
Sure it’s a great poser rig, the V6 Mercedes X class will be a better buy, and cheaper from the looks.
Some people need to read the press release to understand what it's got... not just the facebook whinges missing all the information.
Well if your boat is 2501kg or more, then you won't be towing it with this new one.
Sounds like everyone wants the F-150 Raptor on a tata budget.
But for shits and giggles, lets look at the 3.5 ecoboost F-150 raptor.
It can tow 2721kg, has a top speed of 172kph and costs a fuck load... compare that to the other F-150 models, they can tow over 3.5t... guess that means the F-150 Raptor has a problem?
Ranger Raptor is not built to haul your caravan around, or your 23 foot wake boat, or your 4t work trailer that you pretend is within legal towing limits... it's made to haul arse (check the chassis improvements out!) and to tow your jet skis to the beach.
Here is another good one, just because :)
Everyone wants a V8, everyone wants power... Nissan build it in the form of a Y62 Patrol... no one fucken wants one, you could go in to the dealer and buy a 90k version for 60k... it took what 3yrs to clear the initial allocation Australia wide.
Talk to the dealers, everyone wants diesel... the dealer i bought the RS from had quite a few pre-orders for the Ranger Raptor, with the clause that it must be Diesel.
The 3.5 ecoboost would have been a good choice, no doubt! However the 2.7 V6 ecoboost at 250kw probably would have fit the budget, but with similar peak torque to the diesel, you'd be up in the revs all the time to get it moving.
Says 8000lb towing capacity for the 150 Raptor Supercab.
Regardless, when you drop 80k on a fucking poser Ute, you don’t want a 4 cylinder diesel, there’s a reason the 4.2TD powered cars still hold their value. You’ll be lucky to get a 550 Navara for under 30k, despite it having a newer version with a, surprise surprise, twin turbo 4 cylinder.
Regarding the Patrol, since they changed the spec options, numbers have gone up significantly, it doesn’t help the cause if it looks fucking ugly though.
Of course your argument has nothing to do with your avatar...
Raptor eco boost is from $51,000 usd, which is very reasonable.
looked at new patrol...too fat, useless offroad, same problem with the 200. Thats why my brother put the lsa in GU, all the hp and decent 4wd.
Lol @ towing capacity. When the 2l blows up, another one couldn't tow it.
In terms of being an offroader - the fox shocks, coil rear, 285/70 tyres and integrated front/rear bars are certainly welcome.
Whether it's worth $80k? One only needs to look around and see how many New SR5 Hilux's and Wildtrak's are on the road..no change from $50k for either make there.
80k is here-say, no one knows the price as yet.
Of course that had nothing to do with the hideous soccer-mum styling and drastically different suspension from previously proven Patrol. IFS AND IRS. You are comparing apples with moon-rocks lol.
With the demise of the Falcon and Commodore (SS and XR8 utes) there is a serious hole to fill in a V8 with a tray market, I am actually amazed with the current Colorado's exterior and interior finally on par with a 'comfy' car that Walkinsaw haven't gone straight in with an auto LS thrown into a top spec model. 150 Raptor Ecoboost domestic pricing over here is reasonable, when you compare it to Raptor Ranger, the Ranger is a joke.
And all those people supposedly only wanting a Raptor on the proviso it's diesel are probably late-life crisis spec grey nomads or people who have a current 4WD Action subscription and think Roothy is gods gift to off-roading.
EDIT: As I googled Walkinshaw to confirm if they don't do any Colorado products I find this lol
https://www.4x4australia.com.au/news...e-in-the-works
Now that sounds great, except for the Wildfire name lolQuote:
The top secret project – known as Wildfire, a name recently registered by the Walkinshaw Group – involves shoehorning the LF3 3.6-litre twin-turbo V6 used in the Cadillac CTS V-Sport under the bonnet of the Colorado dual-cab 4x4....Also expect sizeable AP Racing brakes
It’s all speculation until some motoring person drives and reviews it. It’s also speculation that the motor will blow up when you tow, you can’t have it all without comprise hence the tow reduction with coil over rear.
They’ve made this for a target market which is going fast off road Baja style, is even bet my left nut that the engine was selected for reduced weight over the front axle to allow fast travel over woops. Everyone seems to whinge about 78’s Landys with the V8 that fall over and handle like shit.
How many of you guys even tow 3.5T? Even with my PX2, servo trailer and XW I’ve not even come close.
Here is a Journo with the smarts to review the information and market correctly.

Comparing the Ranger Raptor with the Ranger is the same comparison of "apples with moon rocks" as per above... They are completely different purpose vehicles.
Oh and as for the old 4.2s... as the owner of the best 4.2 in the business (24 valve Toyota), they lug around superbly, but if you put 3.5t behind them they are slow as fuck, which is why people drop 6-8k on them making them fly along with massive power upgrades. Where they excel, is in fuel economy whilst towing. My 4.2 sips fuel compared to the Wildtrak that guzzles it!
I don't put 3.5t behind the Wildtrak, because that's just plain fucking stupid and if your caravan weighs that much then you are taking too much on holiday with you and your van is too big!
