View Full Version : 2006 2.4L MIVEC lancer MIVEC????
looking at buying one in a manual and another in the auto for dailys claimed to have 9L or so per 100 fuel consumption, now ive had 2 friends tell me that lancers are a bitch on fuel for what they are and actually use a fair bit of fuel?? if anyone has any experience with them please let us know what you think of them in general and what they are like on fuel, car will be doing mandurah to kwinana everyday, ive already been bitten once when i brought a RAV4 wich is meantto be around 9-10L/100 but was far far worse so yeh any info or help or evn other cars worth looking at if appreciated
i used to have one 1.5L tho and honestly used to drink **** all fuel like 35 liters would get like 500ks maby a touch less its **** all really

new one would be pretty good on fuel, part of MIVEC's benefits on this model is fuel economy, and its a relatively light car.
all depends on your right foot.
sweet as looking at maybe buying 2morrow but just need to get set in the fuel ecconmy department as i said befor been bitten by buyiong a rav which i thought would be good on fuel
easy solution
Hire one for the weekend and see if you like it see what the economy is like etc.
I have a 1.5 and it did have **** eco but thats a tiny engine so thats probably why. I would expect with a nice 2.4 you would get awsome eco as you would be able to cruise at much lower rpm burn less fuel etc.

From what I remember, there was an older version of the MIVEC technology that could shut down a couple of cylinders (think it was just a simple fuel cut), called MIVEC-MD. It'd make sense to reintroduce it at some point.
Anyway, from what I heard, the newer MIVEC operates in a different manner to the original MIVEC, which was more like Honda's VTEC, while the newer version is a milder variant, more like Toyota's VVTi (i.e. softcock-spec).
