Jaycar performance

Looks like Jaycar Electronics have been doing a heap of work on making Automotive kits aimed straight at EFI/Turbo performance ......

for example a kit version of the S-AFC, for around $80 !! Also is a handcontroller to tune it... As well as a fully indepenant electronic boost controller for around $80..

The sad thing is that most of these kits are due out in September

Ive used some of the old jaycar kits and they have worked fine.But im currently having a fight with jaycar over some of the prices they advertise in car magazines. A few weeks ago they had some subs and amps advertised for a pretty good price so i thought i'd drive to perth (80k's) and buy these.When i get there they no nothing about the prices advertised in fast fours and as i didnt bring the mag with me they wouldnt give me the stereo gear for what it was advertised for.As i had driven so far and the fact that i was prepared to buy a fair bit of gear off them they did reduce the price somewhat but not as much as it had been advertised for. When i got home i sent an email to jaycar explaining what had happen and there response was that i should have presented the advert at the time of purchase and that they were not prepared to refund me the difference even though there was no mention of needing to show the advert at time of purchase.I believe that they have breeched sections 52 and 53(e) of the trade practices act and as these breeches carry a fine of up to $1.1m each i am making an application to have these enforced. The ACCC and DOCEP are pretty much toothless tigers so i cant see much happening but i'll give it a go anyway.
So if you want to buy anything from them that you see advertised cheap make sure you take the ad with you.

Id be very interested in budgeted performance gear, as long as i got the silvia route.. doing it yourself has advantages of pride and power over your car, but with my elite skills, i think i will be employing someone to do these DIY kits for me !!

also datsqik, mate i applaud your perserverence with the matter, i hope they do something about it, as that is pretty lousy. Hope you get what your owed..

Going by the performance of past jaycar products i've used these should be good.

jaycar have great stuff ive ben putting them together for years.. Altronics has a GREAT AFR meter btw

this gives you an idea of just how much all those brand name controllers etc are costing them to make and how much of a markup they put on them. The Jcar kits are essentially the same as the brand name ones.
