Perth Auto Show - October

Guys, sure its ages away but we need to start getting our shit into order for pas.. it will avoid looking under prepared like we did at auto salon. Sure we are only there to have fun and not be serious, but this time i intend on having antilag looking good

What we need is:

ideas for display
ppl who are going to enter
ideas to fundraise to pay for all this
ppl who are willing to help

it will be held at the new location, the new covention centre in perth.
i think it is our duty to smash the dyno to bits once again, however, we will put a good display on, and we will win something as a club :)


what we need is input - do we have a theme or do we simply line the cars up.... we have 4 weeks of open discussion before we begin serious plans.

With the construction of the convention centre and the new railline why not go a construction theme, eg road signs etc etc etc

Get the antlag girls in orange vests, tight blue stubbies and knee high steel caps...



Or for a second theme what about a performance workshop, a couple of standup tool boxes, an old motor or two, a few bits and pieces, a fridge, and u have a workshop

We have been offered a great deal by VR4IFIED, a forum member: $60 for left and right, 2 layer vinyl decals, this stuff isnt cheap boys so this is a great deal... Id really like to see all the cars with them on, but its up to you... Register your interest here, WE NEED AT LEAST 10 for this price. Put what colour you want too..

I personally think the workshop theme has been done. Its a good idea but it would be nice to be original.

I am not going to say that without offering up some ideas of my own. Most are a lot harder but i think you will find thats why others went the "workshop" theme.

Ideas -->

Motorsport theme -

Drag ... set up a wooden christmas tree and drag strip lanes on the floor out of cloth. With two cars setup to run. Blow up dolls(hehe :) ) with helmets on inside ready to race.

Drift .... Simluar idea but with a bend on the floor setup 2 to 4 cars in succession in drift pose, again with the blow up dolls, they can even have one arm out the window for true drift . You can use silly dish rims to mark out the inside of the corner, with wrecked tyres.

Hi Tech Performance Theme -

All things hi-tech - Antilag(for example) EFI, injectors, Laptop programming, Twin cams, 4 or 5 valve heads.
Coilovers, race rubber, g-techs basically the latest and greatest high tech toys for Performance(not rice/stereo/gadget)

Just some silly ideas of the top of my head.

First, we need a firm number of entries so we can evaluate the types of cars we have and then decide on a common theme that can all the cars can sorta relate too (eg: lambos wont be suited to drift theme). In which case, SilviaWAs theme last PAS was a very general theme that can be shared by all and still won them awards.

Secondly, we need to have an idea of how much space we are given and what the location of our display is in the hall. Hopefully, Tom can get us one up front near the entrance or somewhere with high visibility ;)

As for how to fund it - just get everyone entering to whack in $100 to cover uniforms, display, whatever. Worked well with clubs I've entered shows with before.

Hey guys, been a while.

With PAS this year I doubt we are going to come close Silvia WA, im just being realistic. But what we can do to win is do something different. Workshop or Drift theme aint the most original ideas. Think of Auto Salon as a marketing campaign. The more coverage you have the better.

At cabin we develpoeda great idea of dividing our display. Obviously cabin was not the best planned event but we learnt alot, with having maybe two groups of fifteen or even 3 groups of 10 cars then we will be covering a majority of the convention centre. And within each display we can have a theme for that group. So from just having one group of cars and one theme, we are producing three groups, three themes and we will not have to pay to win the club award like Silvia WA. Dont get me wrong the display was awesome but end of the day they payed big bucks to win. You have to treat this entry as a business, everyone who wants to enter should pay well before the salon, $100 that should be a minimum fee because alot of time and money is needed to do it properly. And dont forget nothing ever goes to plan so there will always be unexpected costs that appear.

If you guys are serious about this event and really do want to succeed, you have to put in place a plan, assign jobs to people and start a fundraising campaign to get this started. Hopefully we can make a very big impact at PAS and rock the boat for some of the more established clubs in Perth and gain some exposure for Antilag.com
