Picking up my 1 tonner this afternoon/tonite. While overall its ok body will need work. Onto my question.
It runs Turbo 400 auto and a Repco 308 crate engine with a "tow" cam and has done around 30,000k's and I am curious to give it more poke. What is required to get the 308 moving a bit? I been thinking for fun just slapping on a blower but i've been told internals are a bit to weak for 1, even on low boost. Will probably bolt up some headers and twin system and a k&n filter.
any other advice would be handy hehe
probably trick up the auto a bit too i spose

Reason this is under forced induction is I am more curious about advice regarding a blower setup for it, do it on the budget, doesnt need to be a 1/4mile stormer but fitting a nice weiand unit would be cool poking out of the bonnet ;)

Buy a Chev instread! :D
No, seriously, it's pretty traditional isn't it? Buy a Holley 4-barrel, wilder cams, extractors a 3" mandrel exhaust. After that it's forgies and getting it stroked....I wouldn't boost it unless you rebuilt it properly.

Then you don't care about blowing up the current engine do you?
I say put a blower on it and drive sideways until it spits out a piston or conrod!! It's all in the name of science and research.... :D

Gen3 will be mildly crazy in a 1-tonner. My best mate is putting a 380hp Chev 383 into a 1-tonner this summer too.
Don't know how the rear wheels are going to get any grip at all....slideways all the way!!

Trust me, Sell the Gen111 and build a 355 cube Holden motor with EFI heads, the Gen111s lack torque big time and are not to strong.
We have done a few Gen11s conversions inc a Torry but the extra money would have built a strong 355 Holden and not wasted so much time fitting the new age plastic pig.We have the Torry in now if you want a look.
308 with twins is my vote - drive it off boost for traction, drive it on boost for fun

The big cube Holden makes a lot more torque than the Gen3.

It's not that the holdens make a lot more torque than a gen3, they don't they just make it lower down in the rev range due to mainly to intake manifold/cylinder head design and the camshaft's in the gen3 play a pretty big role in their torque development to.. lobe separation being the main thing. Cheapest combo for the 308 is prolly torker manifold/modded quady or holley/extractors/288 cam and maybe open the heads up and deck em for more squeeze.. then throw a lil gas kit on, fun for the whole family. Blower would be fun but 2nd hand 6/71 style units are pricey and usually need gaskets etc.. plus standard pistons/rods tend not to like em coz of intake charge temp and loading

For a mild power upgrade and a good laff.
Run a Eaton M90(with overdrive pulley) suck through blower setup. Throw it straight on the manifold and then the carb at the back.
You can get the S/H M90's cheap of the supercharged V6 commodores or the thunderbirds from the US. With 14 psi pulley on the 5L prob be about 8 - 11 psi
