Just to clarify a few things regarding a post concerning the r32 vs r33 a while back.
I came across an article the other day in jap imports talking about the r32 vs r33.
The overall conclusion was the r33 was better... y u ask
Coz it has a better engine , a better gearbox, newer technology in the cars drivability, suspension is better more room inside the car, its newer so things are far less likely to break. stronger body .
Now the factory look of the r32 most would argue is more attractive so it wins the points there, however a bodykit wacked on a r33 noone can argue that it looks hot!.
The r33 is very heavily under priced aswell so the experts said your getting alot more for your money compared with the 32.
The compromise of weight is a mere 50 kg that is y the engine is bigger than the r32.
The boaty drive is a myth ive owned a 33 n it handled far better than my sil even with the HICAS disconnected which is another extra on the 33.
So they come to the conclusion that the R33 is the better buy. case closed :boink:

How is the suspension better?
There is fark all in it dude - It all comes down to personal opinion - I'd take a 32 Sh|tter anyday

Theres both in my driveway, the 33 for a cruise, the 32 if you want somethin more nimble and more agressive. But this debate could go on foreva so ye its a stupid thread really... take it to SAU if you want comparisons between Skylines dude :)
Yeah what jazza said I have had a r33 and I have a r32 now
33's are great for crusing reliable and great for top speed runs.
32's are well the main difference in the handling is the powersteering system it is a lot firmer and gives great response. If I had to chose 1 or the other and I had to drive that car only I would get a 33. If I just wanted a play car I would get a 32.

engine isnt better, that is very debatable
gearbox isnt better, but stronger... how much power do u want?
suspension/chassis isnt better cause of extra weight and wheelbase
ringlands are newer on rb25's and break a lot more :)
r32's have hicas as with r33's
r33's feel like a boat cause they are one
id never own a r33, but i own a r32 and its not cause lack of funds...

I would go the R32 anyday ,just love the car allround, the only problem is that they have fuk all room to move in them but i spose most imports are the same eg 180's etc
I havnt owned or really been in a 33 to comment but the handling of my 32 is amaizing and apart from 255 and lowerd stiffer suspention it pretty much stock. Love the 32

Well I own a 33, and have only been in 2 32's (both morgs :D )
To be honest I dont know too much about skylines to comment - however all I know is, is that I love my car, it goes well for 100% stock and is clean and tidy. Oh, and it is very roomy inside which is great for me :)
I love the look of 32's better however they are getting a bit old for me so I got the 33.
:)
Cheers,
Chris
p.s. yes, this thread/discussion could go on forever - just like turbo's vs V8's :D:D:D

The only people I know who A. think an R33 is "hot" and b. Think R#3's in general are way better cars overall are people that have spent the money on buying one and are in denial. Every person I know who has driver both th 32 AND the 33 all agree 32 is a better car.
This is from a guy who doesnt drive either so is just giving his person opinion... But as with everything the next guy to post will probably completely disagree with me.
you bring nothing to this debate.

i've driven both and theres not much in it. id take the 32 just coz they look more agressive than the 33.
Thats complete fu_cking ass the 2 cars are wildly different to drive the r33 has exceptionaly light steering and doesn't give feed back while the r32's steering is harder and gives excellent feed back. The suspension feels different and the added weight of the 33 makes it handle very differntly on the tight stuff as well.

Sit in the two cars and you can physically see the way more open interior in the r33, it really does feel like your driving a much bigger car before you even start the thing up let alone drive them! Ive always said the R32 is a mix between a 180sx and R33, has a nice interior without the boat feeling :)
I like to look at it this way "driving a r32 is like driving a silvia thats not a bucket of ****"

I enjoyed the 180 for speed and decent exterior looks, nothing else so I can agree with that comment! If its a Silvia you also loose that exterior looks being nice bit... Obvioulsy there will always b exceptions though

maybe it woz just the cars i drove but i thought the 33's feed back woz as gd as the 32's. but u have driven more skylines than me so i bow to ur superior knowlege damo :)

I drive a 32 - Love the car, I think it is excellent.
I know people with 32's 33's 34's, They are all great cars - Skylines are great cars!!!

True they are quite good cars... No point arguing amongst ourselves when there are so many trevs out there :P
yeah the better battle is over whats worse a wrx or a hyundai excel when it comes to understeer.

haha, gold
come on some one tell me its not true !
I have to say tho I find s13's about 1000x easier to work on than my r32 that could have something to do with the rb26's fuken twin turbo hell though.

I think Mazda's are better. do i win a lolly ?
they make awsome cars for hair dresser's
Fwd's are for women.

I imagine it would be easier working on the 180/sil as their engine is smaller(In external size anyway) so there is a little more room in the engine bay - harder on the 32's cos of the six and as you say damo the twin turbo hell :) hahah
One thing I have noticed working on the 32 is the suspension is really easy to work on - changing struts is no hassles :)
This argument is like Evo vs WRX, HSV vs FPV, XD Falcon vs VB Commodore...
Who cares! Drive what you like, buy what you like....
That kinda open minded reasoning has no place on a forum back to ppcc for you :P

what a useless arguement every person has a personal preference for a car
no if you go stand in freo or northbridge it appears everyone prefers R33's

R33s VERY RARELY have gearbox problems.....
R33s dont come off the boat with broken a/c vents.....
R33s dont have s13-like interior.....
R33s have a strong, torquey motor.....
For a daily driven and modified street car, I would take a R33 all day long!
For a DORIFTO MOBILE, I would take a R32.....
P.S Are there any RB20 R32 SHTRs making 400+RWHP or running 11sec passes in Perth or Australia??? Im sure the R33 list is MUCH LONGER!
Power, 1/4 mile times, styling, comfort and engineering, the R33 GTS-t wins hands down :)
*Awaits RB20 sik crew to lay down the chop*

i have seen many a r33 gearbox with problems
i dont have broken air vents
r32 interiors are very very similar to r33's and nothing like s13 so i dont know what ur on about there
rb20's have less torque but more revs, its a trade off
and just cause u are too weak to drift u bought a r33 :flipa:
thats bull **** and you know it the rb25det gearbox is the same as the gtr box - the transfer case its not a fuken sr20 box with a differnt bell housing.
R32 interiors are **** compared to the r33's
I have owned both don't talk **** bitch or you'll cop the Slap Down.

lol, R32 sedans have FULL S13 SHTR interior....
I can think of 3/4 owners of R32s who have/had cracked air con vents.....
RB20s have more revs but still make no power top end!
too weak to drift? Still waiting to see your pinging SHTR at Wanneroo smashed against a fence Simon!
P.S Fixed that 3mth old miss with your RB20 yet??

Buy a corolla and be done with it. End of the day... it all comes down to whatever tickles your prostate....
if you think the rb20 box is so good wanna lend me yours to use for a drift meet I'll put money on it failing before nights end.

I'm 100% sure the 32 sedan Type-M interiors are exactly same as the coupes? What's that all about???
Tis pretty obvious that the 33 being a later model will have slightly better technology and moulding techniques for their interiors.
I just don't enjoy driving something that is proportionally similar to a late model commodore.

32 outhandles a 33 any day of the week, and due to lighter weight, stops better as well. Id say a blast down the same stretch of road in a 32 and 33 would reveal a few weaknesses.
On the other hand, youd be having to shift down an extra gear im some places in a 32 to keep it in its power band...
i dunno about stops better hey we really need a stock r33 vs stock r32 with the stig on a skid pan
Jazza
30-01-2006, 11:23 PM
Ye and if you wanted it truely fair you'd want cars with similar kms and age, so a 93 R32 vs 94 R33... both stock in similar condition, b fairly hard to find lol
If cars were same age/kms id go R32, but due to age id say many 33s would come out on top because they are newer and been looked after better! 33s are still boats to drive though :)
**** it, just buy an R31 or an R34....prevents lots of arguil ;)
