I know this is mainly a turbo site, but need to ask a question bout my V8, maybe someone here can help me out.

I have recently bought myself a 2005 Ford BF XR8 Pursuit Ute, it's an XR8 with GT extras, plus it has 290kw's not the standard 260kw's, this is why it is called a Pursuit.

How do i get more out of the motor performance wise and make it sound more like a V8?

Any help would be great, and i don't want any silly ideas, cos i may void my warranty with Ford.

Blown 2 engines
3 gearboxes (ford didnt put oil in it once and it went to bunbry and back and locked up) and a 2 diffs

u need:
a tune
cat back exhaust (more noise)
extractors (nice note to exhaust)
these wont void your warranty altogetha, but there are some down sides, as if you blow a clutch, for example, they may blame the tune/exhaust for extra power, meaning the clutch wont be covered under warranty, so check with the dealer if ur worried

Cool banana's, i did cover those things with the dealer, but you can never really know. It's my 1st brand new car, i really don't wana stuff anything up.

chipping seems to be a way of the past. as far as i kno, u can getta 'flash tune' which basically remaps the computer to do what the old chips did, but better! zorst is really open slather...seems everyone has their own opinion, but i would probably recommend a Di-Fillipo system (its a off the shelf system) and has good rep as far as im aware

Why not try McInernery Ford in Morley? They deal in Herrod motorsport stuff and have opened up "Black Mac" their performance side of the business

i've found genie, (and i know quite a few other ppl that have used them) to be a bit overpriced for what they do. i heard d&t are pretty good too.

mel, i'll ask my mate where he got his BA XR8 ute exhaust done. the first system he had on it, before he supercharged it, had difillipo extractors with twin 2-1/2" stainless. that sounded very nice, like a V8 should.

If u do go to the performance shops through a ford dealer (the Black Mac place posted previously) that u bought it from i think u can manage to get it covered under your warranty as its done by ford mechanics with geniune ford approved parts. Probly cost u more than going elsewhere, but hey this ute is probly worth the most part of 40-45K i imagine. Check that out before u get the work done.

strange old mans GT-P 03 model hasnt missed a beat since he got it and i thrash the **** outtah it tires are pretty bald as i drop skids in it everywhere and diff is fine

take another 20k loan and go see Mark in York.

needs a vortech to wake the beast up. 20k should cover s/c intercooler piping and twin 3inch exhaust nicely the rest for a decent tune :)

Extractors, hi-flow cat and cat-back exhaust with a hi-flow air filter should make you happy!!
Genie are pretty good for Ford/Holden exhausts, yes they charge alil more than some but as mentioned above you've paid 40+k for the thing so $500 or so extra on an exhaust shouldn't really both you... atleast you know its in hands of people who deal with them alot. Just don't believe their dyno read outs :lol:

Btw you can also go to Ford for upgrades i believe... mates ute is now quoted to have 330kw after "tickford" upgrades.

My brother takes his UTE to DnT in wangara, they did a really sick job on his extractors n exhuast

as much as i dont really like the dudes, BPT do some good add on parts

And D&T, while i think slightly over priced do a good joob. And they work the Barry from BPT

Northside (?) exhausts is also good, and seem well priced. And I have had nothing but good experiences with the guys at Mettams Mufflers in balcatta.
Or if you want a bolt-on ford approved one contact lynford and geta a herrod system (pricey but)

But its a 8, so make it sound like one. Exhaust would be 1st on my list :)

Then Cool air ontake. I thin SS make a good one which sits in the grill

For the exhaust I suggest Mindarie Custom Exhaust if your up north. They did my cat and Dump pipe and they did it quick and were really friendly. I've sent a few people there and there all happy with the service, price and quality, not to mention the sound :)

How long is your warranty? I suggest maybe waiting till its void? Then you can mode to your hearts content!
Although really wouldn't you rather just pay for those wheel bearings that are gonna **** up and mod now? haha.

agree with rob there, have been in his car and exhaust note is orsm
also live like under a k from it and see various cars go there and an s14 went there getting an exhaust last week and i saw it today and it sounded fkn orsm
also their hsv sounds angry so im very fond of them
and there decent priced
