View Full Version : Android/WearOS Watches
What's the hotness?
Who's got what?
I don't think I can deal with an apple watch and having to charge daily - or any android device needing the same.

Real watches for the win for me, have too many so never baffled for choice. Although on topic. Have worn one of those cheap aldi smart watches for a bit
Was impressed with ability to hold charge. Had enough tech, and could do most things you would want IMO from a device on your wrist that basically needs a lifeline to another device to function properly.
For me, if the cost of the tech is too high and outweighs it's small potential benefits, I'm not interested. Essentially most of these devices are probably not going to make it to the 5 year mark either which is definately something to consider.... it alerts, check. It tells time, check. It can do health functions, double check. Can stop start skip music, check.. truth be told I brought it cause it came with 2 bands and I needed a work band for my tissot. Lol..... happy hunting..:)
I've got a Garmin atm but doesn't do it for me.
Want more of the smarts, but do want heart rate tracking too.
I've got real watches but in a busy work environment often easier to tap a watch than phone etc.

I've never had a smart watch so no other input. I'd guess Samsung et al will have a similar feature soon enough

Yup but you need an iphone - hard pass
Daily charge doesn’t worry me so much. I see it as a disconnect while I’m sleeping as it all sits in the kitchen.
If you want battery longevity and smarts the Fitbit gear is pretty good. My last one went for ages before i switched to iwatch.

I had a Fossil WearOS for awhile but it was garbage for what I used it for, really clunky daily charging and was a pain connecting to a few different phones I used it with.
Been running a OG Samsung Galaxy watch and its been decent, works well out of the box, 4-5 days from a full charge, does all the health shit. The only complaint I can think of is the step counter gets confused when operating machines and get a bit of a bounce on down the road, that said I think that's going to happen with any pedometer function

I've been impressed with my 49 aldi SM watch.... monitors more than I need , battery lasts. syncs with tablet .... does heart rate, SpO2 and BP.... , no stand alone GPS like the garmin copy I have as well., but BP and SPo2 pretty good... have tested against both my manual Mecurial/.stethoscope setup and wrist setup and seems amazingly similar... also as good as my medical grade 400$ pulse ox for SpO2..... man tech has increased massively and got way cheaper...:)
I'm looking to purchase one of these and see how they are. Runs Android Wear OS, GPS and can store 2GB of songs on it, something which I'm looking for so I don't have to carry a phone on me when i'm exercising

Bought a ticwatch 3 pro - so far so good. I had to look up as I had no idea what it was.. that looks awesome.. what is the band like, I have tried on a few 'smart watches' and they all seemed to have small bands......:) ...
I got my Amazfit Stratos today, quite quickly from China via Singapore actually.
This thing seems pretty legit, not like a cheap knock off. Came in a really nice box all perforated just like you would receive a new phone or brand name watch.
The size is probably the same as a regular wrist watch, not stupidly huge but also not so small you need it near your face to read it.
It has it's own dedicated app very similar to Samsung/Google/Polar etc plus the watch gives you an estimated activity run time and distance based on battery remaining
I'll be using when I go for an MTB ride on Sunday and compare it against my Google Pixel 5's GPS data. Strava can be synced with it too, apparently.

I'm a big guy with big wrists - fits no problem at all.
Also there is 1000's of options on ebay.

Had my watch and phone recording during ride today and the watch was bang on what my phone GPS was. The metrics are great and it used 5% battery over 3 hours which is amazing.
Thought I had a battery issue when I first got it but a reboot fixed it after full charge.
Value for money shits all over my Polar M600 I had previously

Hi all. have a galexy watch right now, im looking for something that has a little more fitness things, like a garmin that wil measure running, physical activity and be able to measure Vo2 max, blood pressure and heart rate.
Does anyone have a recommendation ?

I'm super impressed with the Amazfit Stratos. It's does VO2 max but not blood pressure. There is a Stratos 3 that does more than my watch and they're cheap too.
I don't think I'll be buying a brand name watch again after buying this
