With entries opening soon ..... it is time to #stepyourgameup

Are entered/entering or need other relevant info and get lost on or not on FB then a couple that still use this will keep you updated..

This just in ... (as I was looking for the countdown clock on the website and making sure I was going to be in front of a computer at 1800 today.... )

..

From RW20 FB page /

#RW20 Competitor Announcement.

Racewars 2020 is pleased to announce it has just agreed to revised insurance terms with a more competitive provider which will allow us to continue to deliver our event to the standard you've come to expect from us.

As part of this agreement we will be revising two sections of the #RW20 Event Regulations. We will be publishing these revisions on Thursday 12th and as such we will delay the Official Launch until September 20th to allow for competitors to re-read the documents and understand how these changes may impact them.

The changes are limited to some additional clarifying statements to the Driver & Vehicle Safety Standards. It will make it easier for you to understand your requirements and help ensure you can prepare to go racing with the best possible safety gear at your disposal.

So while we appreciate this delay will frustrate some we hope you'll understand we are doing what we can to help ensure you can #stepyourgameup safely, sustainably and socially responsibly.

We thank you for your patience and understanding.

You'd better do VMax properly this year - time to find out what it will finally do over the 1000m after all these years! Don't wanna hear no excuses. Seeing as I'll be spectating, I'm running my mouth instead, starting now, obviously...

Any updates on how sales are going?

No posts on their FB for 2 weeks either i think there are numbers on entry but in previous years hadn't been able to crack their system,,, as I am pretty sure it didn't start at #1,. as there must be a whole lot reserved for sponsors, as well as ones set aside for platinum...

If a few of us put date time entered and the number that was in email.. we may be able to get Damo to do a spreadsheet......

Almost daily updates coming in from the RACEWARS crew via FB........

///////////

We often talk about "The Grassroots" of Motorsport but what does it mean?

To us it's not about your car, or your speeds, it's about your ethos and passion for going racing. In short "It's the vibe!" We go racing for fun, to enjoy our passion for car culture and the relentless pursuit of our own personal goals.

While we are awe struck with the power and performance our top tier entrants develop it doesn't matter to us if you've got 200hp or 2000hp. Everyone is welcome!

Too often we see people shy away from enjoying their car "because it won't be fast enough". If you genuinely believe that you're missing the point. At Racewars 2020 you've got the chance to legally explore what you & your car can do in a legal, safer & off street environment with like minded enthusiasts.

#stepyourgameup and find out what you're capable of, you might end up pleasantly surprised!

//////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////

Whilst an Event like Racewars is a great equaliser in terms of rolling starts and how different vehicles not only get their power down but how they differ in their power-bandwidths as well.. It is also a great humbler. Too often on the street when driving a fast car you get so used to the turbo rush or supercharged thrust that you can think that you are in a very quick street car. And within the constraints of the street and the seat of your pants you are...... At RACEWARS only one can be the fastest and only one the quickest.. Not that is a bad thing as #stepyourgameup means you want to try and run again against guys that have beat you in the past and beat them or not lose by as much..... but there really is something about even getting toasted. When your close to the car next to you up to the double tonne and then you get left behind in the top end of the race it really is amazing and definitely beats watching a race go down from the fence-line. So like they say everyone is welcome , enter, pass scruit, turn up...

there really is NOWHERE in AUS where you can run side by side with another performance car over 800m without hoon laws coming to get you .............................................. Something that makes the event truly unique ....

RACEWARS SPRINT UPDATE From RW20 FB ///////

Racewars is pleased to announce that Targa West Events have partnered with us to not just keep the The Racewars Sprint alive for 2020 but to use their wealth of experience and knowledge to help make the event bigger, better and elevate it to the next level.

It wasn't an easy decision for us to hand over The Sprint. However by partnering with Ross & his team we're able to focus all our energy on the Runway Racing side of Racewars 2020 knowing that Targa West will be able grow this event beyond what we could do on our own.

The Racewars Sprint will always remain part of the Racewars weekend, we'll always be part of The Racewars Sprint!

We want to thank the Street Car Racing Association of WA, Confederation of Australian Motor Sport - CAMS & The City of Albany for their help in developing this event and I'm sure all of us are looking forward to the next evolution of the sprint!

We'll still be there at Hybla Tavern on RW Monday ready and rearing to go!

#RW20 // #stepyourgameup // #unfinishedbusiness

this is great news this years sprint was awesome and not just the road you get to fang it on,,, the location eateries (hybla etal... ) and other sights make this one worth staying an extra night in City of Albany area .......

Get your stories out Gents.....(and Ladies )

////////////

Racewars has been around since 2013 (2012 if you count the lead up to the 1st event) and during that time there's been a hell of a lot of tales that need to be told born off the back of peoples adventures along the #roadtoracewars

So for Racewars 2020 the Racewars Radio crew are going to try something a little bit different and sit down with people to talk about their #RWStories!

Got a tale you think needs telling, get hold of the guys and see if they'll swing their amazing new mobile studio your way for a yarn. (Wait until you see what they've gone and done...)

What could possibly go wrong! 🤷ping♂️

//////////////////////////////////////////

I am sure there are some good ones....... I know there has been a few shared on this forum over the years throughout the various RW threads........

got a story you care to share... let the #racewarsradio crew know.... or if they aren't that PG./ PC .. put them here......

I know in our household..... the lead up vids between the AU and the Camry were hilarious (especially to young teenage males )..... wonder what they are up to next.......I hope they havent gone all SUPRaserious .......

///////

Today we bid farewell to #grannypants.

The team at WTFauto have called time on the little Camry that almost kept our AU honest!

While we think we'll miss the banter we're slightly more concerned with what Tristan and the team are doing to their other cars with all the spare time they're not wasting on trying to make a nanna spec Centerlink car park special go fast!

If anyone actually know what they're up to drop the Racewars Radio guys a sneeky PM.

We all know that way back in 2012 this photo of the O.G. Racewars runway in Wylie got posted on Antilag.com.

We all know that they went out there after a boozy conversation at The Flying Scotsman about going racing on a runway escalated slightly & those involved drunkenly agreed to look in to it.

What you might not know is that shortly after the runway photo went viral Jon & Brockas were driving back to Perth wondering how they were going to actually run an event! Ever inquisitive about the true capabilities of rental cars Jon took a "shortcut" and got them bogged to the sills for 3+ hours in the middle of nowhere.

Paul being a bit of a princess wouldn't get out of the car because he didn't want to get his shoes dirty and Jon couldn't dig the car out so it wasn't until some farmers came past on their way home that the guys got towed out.

Back on their way $50 lighter for their troubles they got back in to phone reception and saw the mayhem that had erupted in the comments section. It appeared you guys had settled on the events name for them while they were "otherwise occupied"...

You were already calling it Racewars. The name stuck and that's how Australia's largest, fastest and most successful runway racing event got it's name.

That's just one of our #RWstories. There's plenty more and since we don't take ourselves too seriously we're sure there's plenty more to come for ourselves but most importantly for you all as well.

Did my dad's & brothers entries a couple of weeks ago

Hadn't really made my mind up on entering since I was happy with my 202mph from this year. Since then the car has had injectors replaced (2 were down 10% to the rest & have been in there for 3-4 years), done 2 roll racing events & then gearbox was removed about 3 months ago for dad's car (trans-brake in mine & dont use it) was pushed out to the back yard and sat there ever since.

I had thought about going to haltech setup as well for better boost control, but that's a $4k exercise once you include harness, wideband, dash.

Anyway...
Yesterday a 2nd hand dash come up for sale, so i have picked that up.

Put my own entry in today, If i get enough time in the very least i just need to wire in the existing boot controller to an rpm signal and then setup the avc-r's gear detection & stick with the factory ecu for another year. if i dont go balls deep and replace it with a haltech.

regardless i'll probably do very few runs with mine and see if the 7 year old motor will take 30psi and hold together for sunday morning. Max i've ever ran so far is 24psi.

CASH DAYS is making a return.... and personally this was a fun event to watch for our family. The atmosphere of the runway at night is really great and the viewing and everything else the crew now have should make this one really epic.....

////

https://i.imgur.com/NPau4Ss.png

Since our inaugural Cash Days back in 2017 The Amazing South Coast locals have stepped up & claimed it as their own.

It seem based on that previous form the guys (and girls) in The Great Southern know how to get down a street surfaced runway better than the rest of us.

The classes and call outs for BTG Mechanical Cash Days 2020 haven't been set yet so while we want our entrants to make it their event we think it might be time to add a "State of Origin" style vibe to the event and have a Great Southern V The Rest competition on the side?

Let us know what you want to see. Time is running out for your suggestions to help us decide how to set the nights racing up!

With Race Revolution (1/2 Mile event on East Coast) not running this year to low numbers , Temora km event(went bi-annual) it is good to know that across another ditch at a distance of a return drive from Perth to Sydney... Runway type racing is going off.......

and they are getting some fast speeds to boot....

RWD record went from 329km/h in2018 to 347.15 in 2019 (by Supra)
AWD record went from 356 km/h to 360 km/h in 2019 (by R35)

At least one of those should give the 2JZ BOOYS something to aim for instead of themselves for once............. ;) :D ....

And we now know where to send all the Roadbike riders who have these bikes that will do 350 cause they can get 200 in a 1/4 .... they can crowdfund their way to SA and see what they are made of....

//////

From RW FB update "" The Racewars Radio lads appear to have found another 1000m event held in South Africa of all places. The red dust has us thinking back to Wylie but the 360km/h VMAX has us thinking we can't let the Saffa's top speed beat us at Racewars 2020!

Who's going to step up for Australia and beat the boet's!""

Haven't been to an Albany one before, are there options for rolling out a swag on an oval like the old Wyalkatchem event or is there a particular caravan park most people are staying at?

def no wyal style.........

plenty of caravan parks.... private accom (airbnb etc) and reg hotels, apartments etc etc.... just do an albany and surrounds search and see what comes up...

also as MtBarker is the nearest perth side town.. and airport is out of town (by 10km or so) if you were to find somewhere in barker or other surrounding town you are only talking a 20 min drive at 110 anyway......

And that was just a test run.

Interested to see if James brings the green supra back out again, over the 800m he seemed to be giving jose a good run for his money last year. Also counting on peter grey to send it again in the 33R. Although overall I think willall and eddie will be hard to match if the conditions are right.

Can anyone clear this up////

With Racewars now using AASA for insurance we (as competitors) need to have an AASA extreme event licence that we are meant to get a free code for being a RW competitor . But this needs to be filled out and processed so we have before the event..

to DATE I have not received any communique from RW regarding any of this.... the only email I have is notifying me of that I am a competitor (from 2019 when registered)...

I have gleaned that info from FB as I am monitoring for 2 others in our group that don't have FB so trying to keep abreast of things...

I just went to the AASA licence page , found the extreme one but it references in their that you also need a club licence...

can anyone who has done all this please post what they did, as it is already beer oclock in the east coast and so far no other info specific to this is forth coming on event page.......

/// thanks/.//

Worked for me...

The 2020 Regulation Changes.

A series of small changes have been made to the regulations to meet AASA & SFI requirements. Most of them are minor in nature and won’t impact most competitors.

The major changes are.

AASA offers significantly improved insurance cover to participants compared with what Racewars could offer as an independent event. We encourage you to find out more about the relevant coverage being provided by AASA at https://aasa.com.au/insurance/
Passengers are only permitted during ¼ mile roll racing sessions.
Passengers & competitors under the age of 18 are now permitted.
Competitors are required to hold either an AASA Extreme Event or an AASA Club Licence. No AASA license = no racing.
Racewars 2020 competitors can lodge an application or renewal via https://aasa.com.au/licences/

The AASA & Racewars are pleased to offer Racewars 2020 competitors with the discount code “Racewars2020” which will enable them to obtain their AASA license for free!
Head to https://crm.aasa.com.au/extreme_event_licences
Select “New Applicant”
You will require a passport / selfie style photo to upload as part of your application.
When you finish the application enter the “Racewars2020” code and you’ll be able to lodge your license application for free!
NOTE: Racewars marshals will be conducting random license + ID checks in the staging lanes so we encourage you to save a copy of your AASA license on your phone or keep the card with you.

/Thanks for that, WE never got any emails advising of the changes to the regs or how to register for the AASA license so will try that......

the stand out change for me that it would have been nice to actually let people know is the 1/4 mile only for passengers... I am sure a lot of people have friends or other drivers who are keen for rides.... the 1/4 mile session doesnt even last 1 pass... last few years lined up for another run and it was switched to the 1/2 mile by the time we got around.....

the FAQ's which people who are spectators and potentially coming to the event to have a ride in a friends car etc still state that 1/4 and 1/2 mile is for passengers.... NO ONE other than a competitor is going to read the event regs and see the change in the fine print to that.... !!

Same, as when I watched the video last night they showed the document you have to sign at scruit Also according to said (original V1.0 which most of us would have signed up in sept with) document the only licence requirements for the runway part was valid C class with competition licence at discretion if valid C or other not valid....

heavyduty ^^^^ you may have to try calling someone today... as we literally did 3 with the code a week or so ago.... and once we had all info in.. they definitely worked.... it cant expire as I was under the impression that as the conditions changed (from not needing a licence , race) from when people signed up to race, to when they (AASA ) came on board.. .

the needed licence had to be offered to RW competitors foc.

Racewars. 2020 done.. day 1 anyway... awesome day.. Eddies final run of the day clocking 347km/h over the rolling half.. a pass like that in cool conditions in the a.m mean the Australian record for the 1000 could get reset...

Keep an eye on racewars.com.au live timing link on main page....

Our crew had some good match ups... with each other and against others... my son got to crack 220 in the half and heavy-duty gave me a whipping in the higher gears... we had some good father / son / grandson matchups..

Cash- days would have rocked if they had some commentary... so between us in our group we did our own... not sure if some close by appreciated our lack of appreciation for the silent.power station... and was so great to watch the tomahawk ( trackhawk with massive ones), send it off for a Recharge....... The ones that made noise were amazing, quiet cars not so much....

In celebration tomorrow we will be #stepyourgameup and removing the muffler on mini bumblebee and unleashing the screams of 9000 kernels of corn getting atomised... one day we will miss these furious beasts and their noise... tomorrow is not that day. #rwradio ScreamerSunday....

We were at sprint scruit at the airport at 3pm and the wind was still blowing hard,

Wind was probably the bigger factor than the rain but also the sodden ground on the edges of the runway was a huge safety factor if someone had an off

Yea. I couldn't find any actual competitor cars that were stickered ( if there was someone please post or explain).. we were stopped by security every time leaving venue on Saturday ( and picking up another car on Sunday) .. telling us we should remove the windscreen banner and door stickers as cars were getting targeted...

Anyway we drove around all Sunday, Monday no back home Monday arvo saw plenty of cops kept complete stickers on Dad's evo the whole time.

Cars we did see that had stickers had a couple of things in common, shit lowering, shit offset/camber and tyres that didn't even fit the rims they were on... yellow bait must be all the rage these days...:D.. :D .

Yellow MX-5 was stickered as the Racewars windscreen banner was obscuring vision.
It was the out of town traffic cops on the prowl around Albany.

that is a bugger....be interested in knowing why events like the targas that also run same window banners dont seem to have vehicles stickered by popo.... is this because someone organises a permit etc as they do a lot more road driving than a competitor around racewars?? maybe this is something to look at in the future...
the obstruction is a tricky one although IF that is the only thing on the sticker it definitely could be fought. As the intent of the sticker is to rectify actual defects.
If it is a temporary thing or something that is a fine-able offence then they should be issuing an infringement (from memory obstruction of vision in WA is/or used to be $100/1 point)
The question would be, if it were such a safety issue such as to obstruct your vision then why did the offending item not get removed by the officer on the spot?
//

The window banners definitely seem like a targeted one though and if that is the only thing on the sticker I definitely would be taking further, especially if when reinspected the vehicle passes with no other pickups.
If it is some specific police from city or surrounding area that is doing the targeting then this needs to be brought to the appropriate peoples attention (ie local member / council / politician etc )...

I would be curious about the definition of obscured vision and the extent the banner impacts this. Are sun visors not also obscuring the vision to about the same amount?

Or, if sticking a sticker on the windscreen obscures vision and is an offence, how is sticking a second sticker, obstructing even more vision (albeit minimal), a suitable solution?

This question was bought up in the Facey post along with the relevant codes. The sun visors when folded down is below the banner.

After a few days off, cancelling Sunday really was a bit of a let down for me. Saying this, i agree with the decision.

I take 2 weeks off work each Racewars, I'm down there from the Wednesday to Tuesday setting up and packing up the event.
A lot of people behind the scenes put in a huge effort to get the event to run this year after the incident of 2019. Putting in that effort for an event to run for a day and not see the main event run is what lets it down for me, but that's me whinging for a few long days doing the work to get setup.

I hope people realise that without JJJ (Jon, Jess and Jamie) and their tireless efforts behind the scenes the event would be nothing without either one of them, they can hold their heads high.
As for the rest of the management crew (Jai, Sarah, Tim, Dieter, Riggs and Huggy.) We are the support under JJJ and the event wouldn't start without everyone's involvement. Very few of the spectators or competitors would understand the effort that is put in by everyone to give them an event.

As for Racewars 2021, someone put me in touch with someone at Redbull/Monster energy/V/Coke that can make a decision about coming on board to give this event the support it deserves.

Im hearing you loud and clear.
We do 100% appreciate everything done to keep this event rolling on.
Weird situation when no decent sponsor will jump on board to push it a bit further.
As a competitor - yep it was a kick in the guts not to do 1000m, but after a loss of life last year, I think most people took it their stride.
Ive been in every year of Racewars, and am bloody glad you have all managed to keep it going.

Is it safe to assume that RW2021 will not go ahead? Obviously with the whole world in Pandemic too many uncertainties..... well seems like an email this arvo answered some questions and raised some others..... 28th FEBRUARY - 1st MARCH 2021 - Targa Albany Sprints
Did anyone pickup on the fact we said Sprints...as in plural...as in more than 1?
Next week we are meeting with the City of Albany to finalise plans for another fantastic long weekend of motorsport in Albany.ping In addition to the Targa Albany Sprint up Mt Adelaide on Monday, we are alsoping planning an exciting new Rallysprint/Sprint on the Sunday.ping Stay tuned for more details, but in the meantime put both Sunday 28th February and Monday 1st March in your diaries.""........

So multiple sprints in Albany on the RW traditional weekend could mean a couple of things....
