Hi Guys,
So potential opportunity has come up to purchase a stock RHD manual JDM series 1 NSX in Canada.
I could be staying here for a year, so I could bring it back to Perth. Thus nabbing myself an NSX under the 100k+ mark they seem to be going for in Australia at the moment.
I was pretty keen on the idea until I did some research and found the 25 year import rule is kicking in soon.
I am now thinking there will be quite a few coming in from Japan in 2019/2020 anyway and therefore prices in Australia will fall, Meaning that its probably not worth the effort to buy, store and then personally import one myself.
Does my logic make sense to you guys? or do you guys think prices for an NSX will remain above the 100k mark regardless of the 25yo rule?

So many other cars you could buy in the US/Canada and then import them. The Price of a Porsche in 1/3 of Australia, hell even a F150 for brand new 48k drive away at the moment, impot that and sell it for 70k...Dodge Charger?.
I dont know what the price of a NSX will fall too with the import laws changing. The US/Canada is a tad different since they are a long way from Japan and seem to be paying premium for Skylines civics etc
You really cannot go wrong if you buy some american Muscle to bring back to Australia.

Nsx prices aren't going down anytime soon, Its not like they were mass produced or regularly come onto the market in big volumes for the to be a massive uptake in the import market

I was looking at the NSX mainly cos it was 90's jap and that's what I have had previously, thus more comfortable with it.
Also was thinking since it has to be a car from Canada and since the NSX was aluminum I assumed there would be less risk of corrosion.
The other American cars and the Porsche would be LHD so I thought they would be harder to sell in Australia....but I have not done any research into the prices of those.
Sounds like I need to look a bit deeper. Ill check out the muscle market.
Cheers guys!

well yeah you might want to look into conversions, but maybe a ZL1 camaro might work easily here

Had a quick look at some muscle. Seems like most newer cars especially are converted to RHD once they hit Australia. Even cars like the Viper seem to have been converted. Given the price they sell for here vs what they are going for in Australia I am not sure it would be worthwhile once converted to RHD.

lol, yeah that was pretty much the plan. I would be too scared to track it etc so would likely sell and get something cheaper that wont make me cry when I put it into a wall.
Its still listed at a price on par with the local Acura's here of similar spec which I think means its overpriced for here given its RHD. Think ill just leave it as a thought for now anyway, still not sure if I can hang around for a year.

you could always look at a salvage title sites (kinda like pickles here ) buy something that needs some work really cheap

Thanks for that!
I think there may now be a requirement for imports to Australia be RHD unless its a pretty special circumstance. So will have to find something special to make it worthwhile.

if you were to get a good condition NSX from Japan looking at upwards of 90k
Because of the US market these cars are are all going up in value, and really dont think that it will drop anytime soon or even at all.

As they were sold locally in the US its not like the 32R and the 25yo import rule. Regardless they are still on the way up in the states. From what I have read and watched they seem to have bottomed out at the 25k mark a few years ago and then started to rise.
I did however read one article sighting that the absolute best ones have basically topped out as they are at ferrari 360 money now (in the states) so hard to see them going any further up.

Don't think this matters, the Supra was locally delivered in the US and they're still buying up the ones eligible for import like crazy, including out of Australia.
