Hey,
Looking to do some house renovation, going to start with my bathroom and was wondering if anyone can recommend where i should go to buy all the stuff.
Looking at doing new Vanity Unit, shower, lighting and tiles. Not looking to spend a fortune, just update the bathroom with a more modern look.
Also i have no idea about styling and colour are there any website which can help point me in the right direction so i don't have the bathroom looking like a rainbow?
Cheers

Go and check out any display homes in your area to see what the current trends are,
If you are looking at DIY you can get decent stuff from Bunnings

It will always look like what it is - a half arsed job done by someone who didn't want to spend the money to do it properly. And that is before the paint starts peeling. Plus painted over grout looks shit too.
As for the other thing. There will be bunches of tile shops near you somewhere. Go have a look because they do up small displays of sinks/taps/tiles etc. Best tip is to borrow some tiles and take them hope to see what they look like at your joint. The difference between the light in the shop (or what you see on a monitor) and the semi darkness in your bathroom/shitter makes a huge difference to what the tiles look like. 90% of what is on display is white teamed with a shade of silver/grey or similar in big arsed tiles.
Bathroom renos are a head fk in any case.

Reno’d a few bathrooms over time, biggest mistake clients make is budget, there’s heaps to factor in. What the floor is made of, sometimes it’s part of the main slab, sometimes it’s a sand floor, which after tile removal, will need to be relevelled. The actual strip out, if you’re doing it yourself, hire a good dust extractor, get a proper tile removal but for your jackhammer, not a chisel bit. Surprisingly the Ozito rotary hammer drill works a treat, I’ve used mine for years.
The bigger the tile, the harder it is to get the fall perfect without noticing the tile height difference.
Go for simple colours, what’s cool this year, looks dated in 5. White is king.
Tile laying cost - usually the cost of the tile per sqm is a good start, more for fancier tiles.
I’m a big fan of tiling first, before vanities/toilets go in, makes it more seamless and opens your choices up for cupboards etc.

Fuck bathroom reno's
The one job I handed off to "professionals" and had nothing but dramas. Bathrooms suck no matter what.

Thanks.
The floor tiles are in good condition just dated, might see if i can get away with keeping them. eventually the house is getting knock down (next 2-5 years); i just want to clean it up and give it bit more modern/fresh look so it doesn't feel like i'm taking a shower in the 1950's.
Plus side i have all the time in the world so if the bathroom is out of action for few months no drama to me.
I plan to tile and paint first (most likely just redo the wall tiling)
If you need a sparky i can help out.
