In the likeness of ozbargin etc, if you come across something on sale that might be of use, worth sharing it in here.
Do this on another forum and has helped me a few times.

Decent looking Stanley socket set for $75.50 @ supercheap.
Managed to find it in stock at Cockburn so used their click and collect and picked it up today. Might have to hunt around to find it in stock.

Agreed, my 2.5k 75" hisense 4k screen once set up is every bit as good as my dads 7k Bravia.
The processing and interface is balls tho, so make sure you are feeding the hisense if you get one, and not relying on the tv's brain. I have it fed from my xbox one s as the brain/media server.

Supercheap Auto

What a lot of peeps are doing is stocking up on these now to use on boxing day, so if your planing on grabbing a cheap tv from JB or a bunch of shit from BCF get some cards now to use on the day for a further 15% off.
So if supercheap do their usual 50% off sale on boxing day that they do every year you'll essentially be paying $42.50 for each $100 worth of shit you buy.

If your bro in law was a proper sneaker tragic he would know they are definitely not real ones sold as fakes.
You can pick the differences if you know what you are looking for - I've tried a fake pair and even though they are comfy, they are not the same.

ask me how I know.... ' well our other half decent dyson copy vac mysteriously lost suction whilst I was at work one day... wife rings.... woe , woe the vac is working but it sounds like it is blocked..... well pull hose apart at joins start from end and see where it gets better....
5 mins later.... checked those but HN has some great deals and I did some research and with filters etc etc etc et c
convo....... continued for 15 mins.............. more blah.... more facts...
more blah some figurees........ (asked her what she was wearing , nearly crashed)....
then ok Ive ordered one you can have the old one... '
last night find 'my new vac blocking my entrance to shed'
pick it up .. hear a rattle...hmmm.....
unclip cord right near vortex... see a pop top juice lid inside it... remove..... sucks like twins on tuesday.....
oh yea harvey Norman have some really good deals on vacs........

While technically true, reality of it is you are only going to get taxxed if going through something like EBay, where tax is automated at checkout. Non-Ebay sales are actually far easier to get through now. So if you are buying from a small online shop, you still have a very good, if not better chance of getting items in without tax.
Since the governemnt got into bed with EBay in June, and mandated Tax be imposed at checkout, they have let the actual checks at the customs lax big time. And as such non-EBay sales slip through quite easily with the massive bolune of online shopping traffic.
No garantee you WONT get taxxed. But I have found every single purchase since the June revisions have got through, where as previously, I would get stung like 50% of the time.

So the whole eBay checkout point of collection was legislated and eBay didn't sell out and get on their knees??
TL;DR - want the doors of trade to stay open in AU do as we say or ATB.

Fucking pingpingpingpings. I wish they pulled an Amazon. If they did the government definitely would have reassessed as the public backlash would have been astronomical then.
Amazon trade through Amazon Commercial Services Pty Ltd, you will be charged GST.

The tax at checkout does not affect Ebay in the slightest. The tax is 100% paid by the consumer. It is a GST/import tax, NOT a corporate profit tax. All ebay/paypal had to do was implement it into thier software system, which in the scheme of things is not that hard for them to do. A small price to pay in exchange for continuing to operate within australia with impunity, and ofcourse avoiding paying any significant corporate tax. (So buisness as usual for ebay/paypal)
When given the choice between attempting to tax ebay/paypal profits directly, or simply taxing ebay's customers. The choice for the Aus government is obvious. Ebay and paypal are like modern day mafia. Thier specialty is international tax evaision. Any actual attempt to impose tax on ebay directly (and ensure they actually pay it properly) would be brick walled with a massive legal counters. And would take years to resolve. Remember, they have entire teams of lawers and accountants who specialize in avoiding tax. But if the government simply say to them, give us a slice of the pie, and we will let your shady tax evaisions slide. Then its a win win for ebay and the government, and the only ones losing out are the general public. (Again, buisness as usual.)

I meant how amazon.com no longer delivered to Aus ( https://www.news.com.au/finance/business/retail/we-regret-any-inconvenience-this-may-cause-amazon-to-stop-shipping-to-australia-from-july-1/news-story/0842f955c18b0f84c3cee7046f63b894 )
Finding this link had me re-read up on what went down ".... require overseas businesses to register with the Australian Taxation Office to collect GST on all goods sold, including purchases under the current low-value threshold of $1000." I suppose this means purchasing my books and vinyl overseas via ebay.com won't be a fix either haha
But what I was trying to get at was that if eBay did the same, not ship to Aus from overseas, the public backlash would have been huge and could have stopped the change. Amazon had hardly entered the market here so no real loss, only gains to be made via the domestic set-up.

I was using a small company however it was the forward shipping company that applied the GST.
