Looking to upgrade the GF's car to a Forester and her Mum (works at a dealership) said they just got in a 2013 Forester XT Premium S4. From what I understand, these are CVT auto, turbo 2L. We want a Forester or equivalent for light off roading (basically getting to good campsites, nothing too serious at all).
Is there anything to look out for/steer clear of? Thanks in advance.
We have a MY10 X LE. Good down the beach, and goes good on gravel etc. Ours has transfer, not sure if the XT does. Missus does a Perth trip twice a week, and it's pretty comfortable for us + kid.

Different generation too - 2013 went to 2.0l turbo CVT so a much different car.
Shouldn't have an issue getting through the basic stuff in one.
Very nice car the 13> XT - comfortable, still punchy, fair economy, etc. Also has X-mode which is a downhill descent assist for off road, works impressively well. They have some nice tech on board.
Just be mindful that the XT sits on 18's with low profile radials. If you want to do mild off road stuff it might pay to look at new rims/tyres to suit.

no dual range box in the XT tho
they go good off road on tracks, hell i even took my mrs 2000 liberty on the beach at lanno so the xt would do it no probs

Bought the car but things were a bit different to what we were told. It turns out it's a 2.5i-S, so the premium package on the atmo 2.5L. The car salesman was caught out by it, thinking it was the XT Premium, so he got duped it seems. I popped the bonnet and immediately said it's not turbo, and and after ringing the local Subaru dealership for a VIN check, ensured I wasn't blind. Turns out all turbo ones have the bonnet scoop anyway, so that should have been the teller. Anyway, he dropped the price further on that discovery, so I still got a great deal, just not the really great deal we were expecting.
It'll still be at least a year before the resale is what I paid, so worst case scenario if we work out it's not for us, we'll sell it for a small profit. Condition is great, it drives great, it's just not the turbo rocket (still perfectly fine power wise as far as I'm concerned). Still has the CVT, so no dual range, but to be honest we'd probably never be in a position that it's needed anyway. Thanks again everyone for the input :)
