See if you can talk her into a Discovery Sport?
Similar platform as the Evoke, with added offroad capability and better storage/optional third row.
Cost twice as much as a CX7 which will have more room and zoom zoom

Good vehicles, reasonably capable off road, ideal wifes car.
Oh sorry wasn't much help.
Umm.. Being a Range Rover something will invariably go wrong! My sport has constant issues with the rear aircon vents stopping to work..
The infotainment system can be pretty laggy at times
Lack of space if you have a reasonable size family
As TJ said, bang for buck Mazda's offerings are pretty mint.

What are the shit things with them so I can beat her senceless with all rubbish about them and make her change her mind lol.... just confuse her with fake facts...
ie, she prob loves the rear end of the evoque , so when you are driving with her start referring to Sports as 'evoque sports' every-time you see one of the new ones with similar rear ends....
when brainwashing is complete she can choose the colour.
See your 2 options are buy an evoque which you don't like wont drive... or get her to assimilate to something else and get an evoque sport  which is way more practical etc etc and you will drive etc etc ..... cause I don't know many sheila's that once they have their eyes on a diamond will go for a lesser one (mazda), but a similar bigger one (sport) hell yea............

Pretty and expensive XTrail
Boss had one, $100k went ok and look good inside and out vbut did have a lot of warranty issues. Think the 4wd systems broke at least 3 times

I have had one for just over 5 years now, it had it's issues over the years but everything was sorted under warranty. Still IMO Build quality is pretty good, the newer models are now more refined with the 9 speed & Ingenium engines (which have 34,000km/24 month service intervals). Price can creep up quickly with options but this is the same with any all Euro cars. it is a great car is you're after a small luxury SUV. What else are you looking at Q5/X3/Macan?

The earlier models ran the same 2.0L 'Ecoboost' engine as fitted to the Focus ST - which have had very few issues over the years.
Shit vision out, touchy throttle and I don't like the seats.
My sisters had a bunch of electrical issues, gauge cluster replaced, something wrong with the tailgate, leaking gearbox etc.
It was a first year one and all fixed under warranty.
She still bought another Land Rover.

That's why she wants one, move to Kalamunda and have a 50 metre gravel driveway and she thinks she needs a 4wd

If she wants a badge small SUV maybe the Lexus NX? Styling is a bit polarising but I didn't mi d the drive....
Mum bought one 4.5 years ago. Only had one warranty issue in that time (minor). 2L Turbo 4 has plenty of poke. Good ride, decent fit and finish for the price point (luxury). Meridian Audio system sounds great for a factory system. Not a lot to complain about imho. Still drives great.

We looked at these when the wife was upgrading (read Downgrading) when we went to the dealer there were 3 brand new cars on the lot with various different parts missing or falling off, talked her into an audi q5 instead. never looked back.

Yeah, we all have our 1st world missus mum wagon problems.
Latest is that mine wants a Wrangler Unlimited to replace a perfectly normal Territory mum wagon. She went and sat in one today on the way to getting me bundled off on a plane. Better not be one in the driveway when I get home... then again, they're pretty basic things, so how much can go wrong? Oh, Jeep...right.

She started wanting a Jeep a couple of months ago and it has slowly been escalating in value with every car that I shut down, I think the Evoke is just this weeks fad until something else she likes pops up.
She has no need for a SUV as we don't have any kids and we go everywhere in my Ranger

Wife's had one for two years. Similar experience. No warranty issues so far, drives great, the diesel uses very little fuel and has a good amount of poke. Would buy again.
Sure you could buy a CX7 or XTrail for a lot less that will do the same job, but that's kinda missing the point isn't it?

Just surprise her with the top of the line Korean "SUV" and be happy it was cheaper than the next most expensive fad with all the same features and a much better warranty lol

They do work better for kids in baby seats and prams and all the other shit you lug around.

you are confusing a woman's evaluation of the word "need", most dont need SUV's or 4wd's. but go to any school area during drop off time and see the plethora of mums driving 200 series landcruisers or similar with a single child in the back...
they also somehow came to the conclusion that they needed that vehicle.
most women i have spoke to like them because they feel up high like they can see things better... most only "need" an i20 or equivalent small sized car.

Continuing off-topic, we have two cars - a sedan and a SUV, with baby seat in each. Disregarding which one has more power and more fun to drive, I much prefer getting the kid and his stuff in and out of the SUV.
They not only have greater clearance in the back for prams etc, but better rear seat access with door opening/seat height makes it a hell of a lot easier to lift your spawn out of a child seat (especially if you're tall).
Add in the increased road visibility and solid feel of a bigger car, and you can see why they're so popular with parents in general (not just mums).
In this particular instance, it sounds more like the move to a semi-rural area has her thinking about leaving the bitumen, and the evoke is the "prettiest" 4WD she's seen so far.

Lads, seeing this is a car forum, us discussing women's wants versus needs regarding cars is more than a bit pot-kettle-black!
If I ever cry poor, wife always has the 'what's with 6 figures of fun car doing sitting in the shed' sort of comeback. She may just have a point, but I still hate losing.

Have had a 2012 RR Evoque since new. It's the TD4 model, which is the smallest diesel option. If I had my time again I would get the larger SD4 diesel, although having said that I think a flash tune would net the same result. Just haven't got around to it.
Honestly a very impressive car. Any minor warranty issue I have had has been repaired instantly. It's also very, very capable off road. Particularly on the beach.
I'm looking to upgrade sometime next year, and have been looking at the RR Velar. More pricey but larger than the Evoque if you have family (yet smaller and cheaper than the RR Sport).
It's spelled Evoque... Schooled!
