Vertical gate pistol shifter

Recently bought a 4 speed dog box with a long v gate pistol shifter.

Interested in peoples opinions on how practical they are for either a street or circuit application.

After having a play with it on the work bench. I can see how awesome they would be for drags however downshifting from 3rd gear to 2nd
Looks like it would be a pingpingpingping.

I've been stuffing around with my jerico to get nice shifting for a few months now. I'm now using a hurst competition plus shifter and the latest problem i have is the reverse lockout spring keeps popping out of position.

Pretty sure the vertigate shifters were designed solely for drag racing since you can just row up the gears but then you need to pull a lever to down shift. You won't want that for circuit racing but you could probably get used to using it on the street.
