question.... how hard would it be (and how much it would cost) to fit a sr20de (an na one, i aint that rich) to a ke70 corolla wagon?? if any body has a broad mind of the figure that would be awesome. cos one day my 4k engine will chuck the ****s, but i like my car, and i should be gettin some $$$ at some point in time cos some B!!!H rear ended my VR and wrote it off, so im liking the idea of a conversion, even if its gonna start off dodgy (doin engineering so gotta learn **** anyway), any ballpark figures on costs/ difficulty would be much appreciated, cheers, Ed

crank is makin noise tho, i just like reliability, i like the 4k, but pushrod power only goes so far, and if i can do an sr conversion, then i can see how long pushrod power will last,

:dizzy: I think he will be alot more educated after that quote :squint: NAAHH

think about this..
WHy the hell would you put a sr20 into one of them. Seriously you have alot more better options. Open your eyes a bit more. Go for some thing like a 1Jz. Seriously save your money. Or your better off putting a ca18det in it. rb20det would be a good option. not sr20 if you dont have much money to play with. Plus a sr20de isnt going to make the car go anywhere near fast.1jzgte cost 1,500 or put a 1GGTE twin turbo in it they cost 750. or rb25det.
save money bra. if your going to start some thing, make sure you will be happy once its finished. Too much trouble for a sr20DE that fucin sucs man

rb too long for engine bay, want it drivable ie dont want engine pushed into passenger area, ignore previous comment, was a 'mate' cos im kinda drunk. dont like ca18 cos mate has one and hed give me **** for eva if id put one in it, and other mate runs an sr in his drag car. my car tare is about 800kg so even an na fuel injected engine is gonna make it pull ok, im not looking for massive performance outta it, just something original and somewhat performancy, are ijze 4 cylinder, cos i would pretty much consider any 4cyl twin cam na manual option, and rather a toyota engine cos after all its an '83 rolla' anyway, comments are well apreciated, only problem is engine bay height, cos my 4k is mounted on an angle and its a 1.3L , cheers

im a student as well and so thus 'saving' is not in my vocabulary, so i have max 3 grand to spend on a conversion, if a decent conversion isnt possible for this much tell me, like i know a bit about engines but i admit i dont know THAT much, cheers

The 4AGE conversation would be a suitable conversion for it. Stays with the same brand of motor , would fit reasonably easier than other conversions, good on fuel and will go hard. I don't think the motors would be too expensive considering its an N/A.

My 2 cents

another 4k? they're like 100 bucks a motor
the 4a family of motors are reasonable bolt in and cheap with an AE 70/86 xmember
sr wouldnt be that hard

find me a 4k for 100 bucks n ill buy it, or even better anyone got a 5k??? they bolt straight in apparently, only real problem is engine bay height, so mite need a big brocky bonnet scoop to cover motor

ke70 is closer to 900kg
sr conv wouldnt be too hard. cost approx 3k i reckonbit more depending on which sr de you get.
rb/1jz/1gg..etc are a tight fit. you would def want to do the water pump and timing belt before it went in
easiest conv is a 4age not much of an upgrade though

work the 4k to the shizzle, head work, cam, etc and then strap on a SC12 supercharger using a modified air cond bracket, either use a draw through or blow through setup..u could do that for under $3000, those 4k motors are unbreakable..

i brought a Ke70 off my mate that had been taken out to the pines and thrashed every weekend for about 6 months, blew a head gasket and was driven around for quite sometime, then it was fixed and i thrashed it on the raod for months..ended up blowing the starter motor but was still running wen it was sold

my mate has a KE70 with a 4AGZE conversion, pulls hard, reliable, only problem is it chews through diff's like you wouldn't believe...

we took it down to the plex last wednesday, on the way down, chopping commodores n'sh1t, diff nearly breaks, brand new diff and now he has to limp around.

engine may go in alright, its diff's you have to worry about.

yer heard ke70 diffs r weak, thinking of gettin myne welded, but dont want it blowin up when out bush, in the end a 4k is still an old engine, ie pushrods, carby, just thinkin instead of buyin new car do somethin fun/stupid with myne, like twin cam fuel injected maybe, does 4age fit that catergory?

haha u think 4AGZEs eat corolla diffs, a mate of a mate has a 13b Turbo in a KE70, stock as a rock on the outside, pizza cutters and all..spins up every gear without clutching..

apparently he snaps axles every 2 weeks..

yer my car has skinnies on :boink:, extremely fun in the wet, but didnt really give it too much thrash in winter, arent rotaries esier to convert? but not really wanting 13b cos not the best fuel economy,

tims 13bt KE70 doesnt blow axles out that often
i got a decent 4k for $100 outta my car

i bought the ****ed starter motor KE70 too still runs orright as an "emergency get to work car" still looks liek it came straight from the pines haha

do u mean u are selling a 4k or u got a 4k for $100??

Drift_R32

haha u brought that rolla? that thing has had the balls torn outta it and it still kept on going u like all the dents on it ? my mates got bogged out there and some 4WD tried to push them out and bent in all the back, my mate also rolled it onto its side after he was fish tailing and hit hard limsetone

i swear it was so outta tune it was using about $40 a week and my mates 308 was only using $60 for the ammount of travel,

my mate was prob exagerating about how often it blew Axles but apparently he reckons it was a weapon aye

diffs are easily found at wreckers for 100 or 50 at pickapart, its easier just to pay the extra 50 and throw it in the trailer and drive away rather than rolling around in broken glass under a car thats supported by 2 steel wheels welded together.
