Anyone here had experience with gilmer drive on maggie blown ls engined car?
I reckon I'm getting belt slip on my ute and recently saw a gilmer drive by Enhanced Automotive. I'm running 14psi and have pondered going 8 rib but this might be a good alternative and maybe go an extra couple of psi at same time.
Tre-Cool you had any experience with these, and do you think about aiming for 18 - 20 psi?

20psi from a maggie - that's pushing it.
Glimer WHINE like a bitch (as you'd no doubt know, Feady). I'd go the 8 rib, and try and wrap your snout drive so it has the most contact it can.

Well you know me. Always gotta push for more. Ok is 18 psi ok? Lol.
I'm not worried about noise as its not a daily ...
It would think its the easiest way to stop belt slip as I've heard of people still getting slip on 8 rib at over 14 or 15 psi?

I read a bit on the US forums how people where overcoming the belt slip. You need to also be aware that at 18PSI+ the Maggie will be outside it's efficiency.
Dave found by backing of the boost of a certain Camaro, the car made better power down low and nicer curve. Too much boost had the supercharger outside it's efficient range.

On ya.
That is why I love this forum.
Plenty of tried and tested info at our finger tips.
I owe you one!
Back in my box now.

Pretty sure Dave was running 20-odd psi from that black VE wasn't he? I'm only running 11 psi from a 1900 with an overdrive pulley on it (John didn't even consider not overdriving it haha), but that's on a 6L.
House for me first, more power later...

Can you put up some photos of your belt arrangement, need to see drive and return side of pulley.

I can't get it to take pic ATM with the back. Probably plenty of pics on the net.
L76 block, early VE water pump 2300maggie running 14 psi. VF has electric power steering so no power steering pump pulley.
I might be able to get one of my sons to take a pic tomorrow

my black ve was only running 15 with the htv2300.
blue ve ute i owned recently was only 10.5 with the fdfi, guy i sold it to has just purchased the enhanced automotive kit. Rather pointless imo as it's a stock 6l.
What you really need to for the magnuson's is get a phenolic spacer, it goes between the bottom manifold and blower lid portion. Supposedly no matter what you try to gear the mp2300 blower too they have an air restriction in the manifold.
From what I read, guys with big cubes were actually changing to bigger pulleys (less boost) after they did the spacer. so yours would be a candidate. I.e they were hitting a wall and having belt traction issues with smaller pulleys as the lower manifold just wouldnt take any more air.
Think of it as adding an extra couple of litres of air capacity once its gone through the blower rotors.

Ah yes, I recall them now. We where looking at doing it to the 1900 on mine.
The 2300 spacer does make the blower sit up higher, and as such you will run into bonnet clearance issues, so you'll need some relief. But, as Dave has made mention, the Phenolic Spacer adds more volume, and also allows a cooler charge to enter the combustion chamber at a more optimum angle.
