My wife has a 2007 Mitsubishi Lancer Wagon. The key hasnt been unlocking the doors consistently over the last few weeks so she replaced the battery today. The battery was out of the remote for about 5 minutes.

Now the car just turns over and doesnt start, i assume it is a problem with the immobiliser.

Unfortunately the spare key had the same problem about a year ago so we dont have a working spare key.

Is this a problem that only a Mitsi dealer can fix or any suggestions who else could have a look at it. Car is currently in a Bunnings car park and am not keen on leaving it there for the rest of the weekend until the dealer accross the road opens.

Advice appreciated.

Have you Checked the owners manual?

When you took the key apart you may have dropped the transponder. Our car guy isn't working this weekend but you may have some luck if you call atlas lock and key to program in a new key.

THanks Siladee. Sorted it out. There is a tiny plastic piece that dropped out of the key, apparently this is the immobiliser thing. Found it, put it back together and it started again.
