Haven't been watching too much of the ceremony as I just got to work.

But feel free to talk shit about it all here, any sport or anything that happenes there,

what are you all looking forward to seeing? what sports/athlete?

hopefully it all goes smooth and well and out shines all the negative talk that's been happening!

Hard to get interested on the olympics these days, its just the athlete who uses the best undetectable drugs. We've basically had an entire country turned away for systematically doping their athletes.

Speaking as a climber myself, I'm pretty glad to see sports climbing in the Olympics, as it's been around for years and I certainly think it has it's place.

If you want to talk about crock's of shit, how about horse riding...

I think the Olympics are awesome however the sports should be the pinnacle of achievement. I.e. the golfers / tennis / basketball etc don't care as winning the Olympics isn't the best thing they can do in their sport. Athletics, swimming, sailing etc are and they should be the sports to be included in my opinion.

I don't know how to do it but it also needs to be less of a financial impost on the host nation. I know its not the Olympics but the whole Qatar world cup is a farce. Having a place the size of Perth build 8 stadiums capable of holding 80 000 people is sheer stupidity.

I'm going to make a concerted effort to get to the next Olympics in Japan.

we were always favourites going into the France game and Serbia we always had a real good chance of winning. Good thing about the boomers is that it isn't even our strongest team. Well I heard on the radio today that the world rankings of France and Serbia are 5 and 6 respectively compared to Australia at 11, they both should have probably beaten the Boomers?

Not sure what the odds were, but I would've picked Australia as slight underdogs in both games so far. The fact they won wasn't a huge shock, but the way they did perhaps was.

world rankings don't mean a whole lot to be honest, just look at FIFA.

Australia had also beaten france just prior already as well, defeated Argentina as well. I don't see why we would not be expected to have a shot at winning.
