Being an idiot it seems I have killed my current Samsung laptop - bit devo, its a great thing.

Budget - ~1400
Give no fucks for any sort of brand alliances etc
No 11.6 inch screen shit
No 2 in 1 things
Doesn't need mega stupid battery life but 5 hours would be nice.
Doesn't need to be stupid thin mega light
SD card read would be nice

Who/what/where?

was your laptop 13.3" I assume it was?

ebay has 20% off a lot of retailers, dell good guys etc, search there and look for the asus zenbook ux303 and ux305 couple of very good spec models for around 1400 after the discount, usually are around 1700. there are some variations for even less as well. unless you need to walk into a store and pick one up asap as you would have to wait for delivery

otherwise if you can stretch the budget JB has the HP Spectre x360 down to 1600, great machine all metal build. But have a scroll the jb website as there is a few good bargains for EOFY.

but id recommend this, I have the 15" model but it comes in around the size of a 14" have not had a single issue and I love it, if you can stretch to 1500? rated as the best ultrabook currently available. It actually retails for $1999 but its down to $1899 then with the ebay discount a further 20% so its good buy!! Battery life is around 8-10hrs

Bought this purely for specs and size, not the 2 in 1 shit as I didn't rate it.

Have used 2 in 1 functions heaps of times. Has been extremely handy haha.

Would you drop to 13.3" screen? I was pricing up another laptop for work today @ JB Hifi coincidentally........

Lenovo Yoga Pro 900 is about $1600 with an i5, 8gb ram, touchscreen tablet, 256 SSD, good battery life etc. Has wireless and bluetooth as well.
I thought the touchscreen would be gimmicky but it's actually pretty good and the hinge on the pro model is solid so you can open it right up.
They are thin and light to carry - I have one and I rate it.

I think the ebay 20% off special ends today. Just choose a pick up option to save on delivery/shipping.

Is it a 250 dollar thinkpad or a 4k one?

think they would be the expensive ones when they charged 550 just for replacing a cracked screen

If going through official service its probably right for even bottom end machines.

About 100 an hour in labour at 2 hours place parts

You spent 4k on 1?

We sent all our work Lenovo's back due to ongoing issues. Hope you got a good one

Have HP Spectre X360. Want another one.

CNC'd case, long battery life, touch screen. thin, light, ticked all the boxes for me.

Please tell me you went to MSY cannington haha.
Those guys are fucking useless virgins.

You need to pick what you want and select it before you go, so they have it ready. Don't bother going in for advice, they're too busy watching re-runs of DOTA/LOL and probably shitposting about girls they'll never get to touch.

Yes I have rage on this one, couple of the dudes there are so rude, have bitten back harsh words once or twice.

We use metabox laptops at work they seem to be the best bang for buck for a windows machine.

Otherwise Macs are pretty nice.

Well, yes. their service is completely fucked. But they are generally the cheapest in Australia, so if you know exactly what you need tech wise and dont need advice or direction, who cares about the service.
