Hey guys, can you please keep a lookout for a 2006 Black BMW E92 335i.
Stolen from my house in the Wellard Area 6170, around 3:30AM. Woke up to the sound of someone revving the fuck out of it in 1st gear down the street.

Yeah I really hope they get what's coming to them. Just depressing knowing that theres a high chance that the car won't be the same "if" I get get it back, I really liked that car.

Have not received any updates yet from the Police, they pretty much said that I will have to do most of the looking. Being that the theft seemed to be well planned ( They could have taken a whole lot of other items as well as the missus golf gti ) i'd say my chances of getting the car back in one piece are pretty slim.
Going forward what will happen next in regards to insurance? Never had anything happen like this before, so don't want to get screwed over.
So far I have:
Shared my stolen car post on every facebook community/group I know.
Created a Gumtree ad.
Emailed a number of workshops/dealerships and tow companies about it.
Delivered flyers around the neighborhood.
Gone on a few drives just to see if I happen to spot it anywhere.
Called every fuel station within a 30km radius as the BMW had 20kms left of fuel, though if it was well planned I assume the fuckers would have been ready with jerry cans.
Thinking back on the night, I was lucky that I left the keys out on the kitchen bench as I normally keep them in my nightstand, who knows what would have happened then :\.

hopefully if you get it back there is nothing wrong, would hate to have a car stolen, smashed up and then fixed. You'd then be stuck with the issue of later selling a repaired vehicle

Yeah exactly, knowing that I left the car in high boost mode that night and hearing the thieves struggling with manual makes me sad.

Depending on your insurance company they require the car to be missing for 2 weeks before they'll start processing a claim. (Well that's what happened in my case although I got the car back in about 8 hours and told the insurance company to write it off)

I see, having that choice is good.
Update: Now have a lead on one of the thieves, I won't put all details down just in case they are reading this - Car had some antilag stuff in it when it was taken.

People will add in switches and stuff for high boost / low boost and different driving /engine maps etc... but baulk when you say an easy solution to basically never have their car stolen is a hidden switch that cuts ignt/fuel .
Means that even if someone finds your keys they won't get your vehicle started and will get frustrated and leave..... would rather a frustrated meth head then one actually driving around in my car anyday....... just a thought...

sort of missing the point .. they take keys, head to your garage... out front... sit their trying to get car started.... if they could find switch and get car started still delayed them enough that more likely than not they will get caught.. if not they will abandon it. they have already been in your house to take your keys... we arent talking criminals who really know what they are doing. they are going for the easy option and really just want to get out of there.
but hey I laugh at all the poeple that go that would be the worst to have someone steal and drive around in your car, then take no extra measures and leave their keys in a readily available place hanging in plain site... I leave my keys in plain site but secondary measures in place mean that is pretty un-likely.... sort of like how many people have deadlocks on their doors but wont use them ?

Easiest solution is to have a car that runs E85 and barely starts when cold, no hidden switch needed.

I disagree but it's not an exact since. If people have taken the time to scope out your house, break into it to steal your keys and not touch anything else then steal your car I think they would be reasonably keen on it and also pretty aware that it is running.
They have already taken the risk of breaking into your house to get the keys and then getting into the car without raising alarm. What the difference to them getting out of the car, strolling back inside and belting you or your Mrs across the head with something demanding you start the car so they can be on their way? It's an escalation in crime, sure. I wouldn't put it past a cracked up idiot that is desperate enough to be doing this in the first place though.
People have been beaten up for their keys etc before and it will happen again.
I reckon a much larger % is fucking basic scum just taking opportunity and knowing nothing will happen to them in the eyes of the law to take a fast car for a joy ride.

Like opportunistic crime where they see the car on a walk past the neighborhood and then go grab it for a wrap??
Not sure where I even got the idea but I figured they must be scoping out worthwhile cars to grab and following them home then doing some work beforehand casing the area etc. and trying to sell or part out for $$.
Probably watched too many movies haha.

Had this happen to me last year.
Wifes SRT8 was parked on the driveway overnight, as was the then housemates new CX5. At around 2am, a non reflective walks up the street, has a look at the cars, then lets himself in to my backyard and proceeds to peer through each window into the house. Luckily, the housemate was alseep on the couch watching the rugby with her dog, which I presume stopped him from breaking in. I dare say it was an opportunistic "hey dat dere car looks flash, lets see if the keys are anywhere visible".
If he did break in and grab the keys, I'd be much happier with him just taking it, than the possibility of him coming back into the house wondering why it doesn't start.

lol.... seriously..... those thinking that someone who has done an opportunistic crime is going to come inside to ask the owner why their car won't start.....(that they are trying to steal)
but hey the amount of times things like this have been prevented by properly locked and secured houses or people or dogs present // all i am saying is if they do happen to get your keys then you have a second level in place to snooker them.
case in point, was on a job site working as a chippy 10years ago or so and some abo's scoped the joint and managed to get the keys to my work car from our lunch boxes whilst we were up on the roof.. I heard my vehicle trying to be started and jumped off the roof with another mate in tow.... both hauling air hoses.... anyway got close to the car and he saw us and did a runner with a volley of nails following him...
Note: at no point did he come up to me and threaten me as to why my car wouldnt start.....!! If I had not have had kill switch then he would have definately stolen the car, prob ended up on the news wrapped around a tree but it certainly saved me a huge headache with vehicle recovery insurance etc.....

lolled, haven't heard that one before. I have an isolator key in mine that I keep separate from the keys, obviously if someone has a knife to my throat to make me start the car, then I'm not going to try piss them off, but if it's an opportunistic, then 'hey, the car doesn't even run at the moment you stupid pingpingpingping' seems like the go (hypothetically).
Hopefully you get the outcome you're looking for Demonvia. Could be thrashed to fuck, returned, then a month later be up for a 20k engine when it randomly pops, and insurance probably call it 'unrelated'.

Fuck, car really worth 20 years of your life if one of those nails ended up in his head? On the point of thinking they won't bother if it doesn't start, you may remember in 2014 someone's dog was attacked for no reason at all in an extremely sadistic way when they broke in. You're not dealing with normal logical rational people in this situation.

Yeah I do remember following a few posts where the members were active in tracking down stolen cars. I have posted about my stolen car on WAJCC though did not get much besides a few likes and shares, I have the feeling that the majority of the members have that "not jap don't care" mentality

UPDATE: Police have found my car at a vacant rental property nearby (9 minutes from my place)
Apparently they were able to get a ton of prints from it so hoping that the fuckers get caught, won't stop until I find out who they are.
The wheels seem to be the only thing missing, though the car has yet to be inspected for further damage.
Insurance own it now.
