Fucking Zhao

Got pinged - infringement notice reads 80km/h in a 70km/h zone

logged in to view photos - the banner accross the top of the photo reads 81km/h

Now i know they usually knock off some speed ... i thought that number was 2km/h

Is this worth enquiring over? Anyone have any experience here?

Thanks in advance!

$200?

+1kmh isn't going to move you into a different penalty unit bracket.

No experience with inquiries.

I was in a similar situation a while ago, 71km/h in a 60km/h zone. Dual lanes each way, massive centre section between opposing directions with trees and all, no driveways into main road, assumed it was 70, got done. Fine came through with 70, I thought what the hell, they should knock it back 2km/h and hey presto no points and half the fine. After ringing they only knock 1km/h off up until 90, and then 2 for speeds over 90km/h. But it's not a cash grab.....

If they knocked 2km/h for inaccuracies off it would be 79, so half the fine and no demerit points.

It's my understanding the 80kms has the adjustment factored in but keen to be proven wrong.

200 clams...not too fussed about the coin, its the points that concern me

that 1km/h will make it zero points

Your speedo probably read 85

Hope that helps.

Would the speedos really be that far out in modern vehicles?

Up to 14% is allowed. My 2012 navarra out by 11% but for over only 4%

Brand new Polo is about 10%, Brand new Golf R is about 1-2% which is actually about the most accurate I have seen

Last I checked ADR's state 10% over and 0% under for speedos. Used to be 10% either way until maybe 10 years back.

Back OT, you can take it to a magistrate or take the fine/points as is. Nothing else to say really.

I had the same situation with a fine a few years ago, never bothered to ask them.

Bomber's post has cleared it up for me as well, as I also thought it was 2 they knocked off.

Just get on to double or nothing for a year and then all will be sweet, no demerits again ;) ...ask me how I know
