I have been running a 7.25" OT-II Tilton triple plate since i recently got the escort running again. I love the pedal feel but hate the way the sinted plates engage. You get a about two or three applications before the discs start getting hot then you may as well have an on/off switch for the clutch.
My question is has anybody come across any better friction discs that have a bit more modulation?
I blew 3rd gear at the last Supercruise so my 26 spline G-Force box will be going in next and have to change friction discs anyway.
Any info appreciated.

Cerametallic is what most of the rally cars use for more pedal feel and slippage. I looked into it hem when I was setting up my clutch. I have a twin 5.5 quartermaster for my new car but i plan on swapping the input shaft to 26 spline so ill get some Cerametallic plates when i do the swap. The only difference with them is they are a little thicker than the sintered discs.

So looks like the basket and floater plates are interchangeable. but need to change pressure plate and friction discs

The most driveable aftermarket clutch I've had, would have been the twinplate Exedy carbon in the old Evo. Was more or less like a standard clutch to drive, so good.
Once dead, replaced it with another twin plate, but cerametallic, and that bastard was more or less on/off. Not very nice.

I'm going through the same thing at the moment and got no idea who to ask.
Looking at a ORC twin carbon 7.5" clutch. How much better/advantage is the carbon over the cerametallic?
What justifies the 5.5" clutch?
I should add it's for a 550hp 2jz with TTI sequential.

I ended up pulling the tilton out and put a 7.25" quarter master in with Alcon plates. Holy shit what a difference. Car is 100x more driveable. pedal is heavier but heaps more clutch modulation. Still gets hot if you fuck around too much slipping the clutch and noisy as all hell.
Cant comment on carbon. never driven one
