So, seeing as beards are the zeitgeist right now, is a good time to see where it all started.
Vintage Stampede is on at Wanneroo this coming Sunday (29th). Regularity event for 5 fields of ye olde bangers and their cars. Regularity, as in 'regularly racing' may more describe some of it.
So if you're into old stuff getting belted round a track, come have a look at some stage. In my group there are 24 cars, some of which are: Charger E55, several Mustangs, Camaros, XY/XW GT's, Toranas (6 & 8's).

Will be popping in for a look. I do love watching the old girls coming into corners sideways to help wash off speed...

So, great day. Over 140 entrants and cool breeze keeping it nice, out of the car at least. Breeeze did get a bit angry and blow dust all over track later in the day, so times were not brilliant.
I had Lucente's Fiat to give me trouble in my field. I've seen him and that thing for I can't remember how many years racing. Even full noise in my car (LOUD!) I could hear his turbo spool up! Spent the first short track event over following him around. Next event I didn't let him get the jump on me at the rolling start and went for some times.
Unfortunately I discovered front pads had bugger all left in them when bleeding brakes late Friday arvo. So had to give it away after long track practice. Still pulled up fine from 230 ish down the hill, but one disc face has eaten some backing plate, but should clean up ok after a skim I hope.
Can't complain, pads are the orginal DS2500's I built the car with, and it clicked over 10,000 ks today!
May try some Pagid Club Racer pads next, supposed to be very good.

not sure how many races there were, we got there just as the open wheelers etc were racing, watched your category after and you dominated, the Fiat was clearly the next quickest but you opened the gap, what a fantastic day, so much variation in the cars and the noise! wow, your car is so angry, the turbo spool and flutter of the Fiat is so damn good, V8's and straight sixes, even in the NB class the escorts, lotus cortina's, the xu1 and EH just to name a few, all sounded so damn good.
kids had an absolute ball!
even a sss 180b with an l28 conversion running around with the 240/260's and porkas etc! so good!!!
Such a shame it's only an annual event, i'd love to see these things regularly.
one of the old boys even let my son sit in his car and take some pics without even asking.

Was a busy day. Short track practice, then 2 of 6 lap short track events. Lunch. Then repeat but except for long track.
Yeah, there were some new to me (still old) sports and racing cars there I'd not seen before, some going pretty hard too. That early 80's LeMans racer BMW M1 powered thing was very nice. And the noise, yeah, I'm a sucker for old school angry open pipes on racers. Some of the Lotus Cortinas and Escorts and the 12A BP RX2 plus others revving well past 7000 sounded mint.
I got to watch my event once I had to pull out and got to see and hear the rest of my field. Couple of the XY/XW falcons were going at it until one stuffed it up the inside at end of pit straight under brakes, couldn't pull it up and went off half sideways through the sand all the way to the grass next to the fence. Mustangs and Camaros also sounded well nice.
Anyways, have a listen to the Fiat get up an boost! This is the first event where he jumped me while I was waiting for the green flag. Had a couple of opportunities to pass him (he missed 4th down pit straight once), but decided against it. He's a hard racer and I'm not sure I want to play that game, having just fixed the panels from last time out.

Ah, the Formula Junior? Yes, it looked and sounded the part. Mike was taking it a little easy I think, but was a very nice looking device. As you'd expect.

My retic pain will come, I know, but was better racing I thought! Didn't get a chance to have a good look at it, should have though. It missed a gear a few times on pit straight and did it rev! Sounded nice, but dunno how much the motor liked it. Not very I'd guess. Looks like it was doing 64's easily on the long circuit, following around the Jane Brabbham, and I'd say it has a lot more in it if pushed. Did see it was heading to the Speed Fest in the car show. Don't think I'm doing the Speed Fest seeing as they haven't got back to me.

Yep I think he has driven it once before the weekend ...
