A thread for all things American Football, since there seems to be quite a few people that not only follow it, but play it.
So the last week of Pre season is underway atm, with the Seahawks currently taking care of Oakland. What are peoples predictions for each conference and who they think can go all the way?
I quite like the NFL and am going to try and follow the season this time around, and get more into it. Obviously watching games is difficult without Foxtel and with the time difference. I was looking into the NFL Game Pass packages, and they are pretty expensive. I was thinking since all the playoffs and bowls are shown on TV on gem (i think?), i might get a single team package and just watch the replays, as i won't have time to watch multiple games a week. Is there any other better or cheaper options?
If not, ill grab a Seahawks package. From what i have seen of them over the last 2 years their passing game and willingness for "trick" plays as well as the versatility of Russel Wilson means i enjoy their game style. The GF also approves of their team colours.
Go Seahawks.

Like the game but no solid alliance to a team. Would jump on the Hayne bandwagon if he gets through and plays minutes though.

Been a 49ers fan for a long time so excited to see Hayne do so well in Pre season. Really looking forward to this season should be a good one. Really excited to see just how scary that Texans D-line is going to be with Watt, Wilfork and Clowney.
I hear you're quite familiar with D-lines yourself.

My prediction is for the Colts to beat the Seahawks in the Superbowl. Hoping the Colts can go all the way this year!
I'd also like to see the Bengals do well.

I don't think the IP trick will work as they have the option to select your currency, and the prices in various currencies all equal or are more than just paying in AUSD from Australia. I haven't tried doing it through a VPN though to see if that makes a difference. Ill give it a shot next week after my free trial expires.

just google around for a voucher code, its about the best you can do.
Condensed games bring it down to about 30mins per game

Closest NFL city to where im moving is Seattle.....so, go Seahawks! Watched the last 2 superbowls in Vancouver while on holiday. Atmosphere is awesome.
Anyone know of any places that have it on tv, pubs etc? I go for the Packers so hopefully their games are on at a reasonable time.

NFL is played only on Sunday's which means to watch it live here in Australia you need to be up early Monday morning thru to lunch time. Casino is open and they sports bar showing ESPN feed no doubt.
Otherwise it's subscribe to Foxtel here and watch their feed at home or your smart devise. Alternatively subscribe to NFL Game Pass https://gamepass.nfl.com/nflgp/secure/packages?ttv=0 you can pay $129 and get only your team' 16 games live on your smart device.

Varsity bar play some games live but otherwise they are big on 5.30pm replays - it's the only American focused bar in Perth AFAIK.
Gamepass is significantly better than foxtel - you get access to every single game (on demand), can watch it on practically every device (including downloading games to view later on iOS devices).
I was quite surprised at how little NFL content foxtel actually has - at times last year 7 mate was better!
Plus if you only have a fleeting interest, gamepass has condensed games bring it down to about 30-45mins by just showing all the plays.
If you do a bit of a google, you can normally find some discount codes which will bring it down to about $120 for the season for ALL teams.
You can pay extra for playoffs, but they are generally all televised on either foxtel or commercial TV - especially now with all these people on the Hayne Plane bandwagon.
Gamepass sounds like a pretty good deal. Yeah I'm not too avid of a follower but I like it. Me and my mates sit around and watch it on ESPN whenever we can

SPOILER ALERT - not sure if some are watching game later tonight.
Hayne starts, and fucks his first punt return. Dropped it and resulted in turn over. Bummer.

Seattle go 0-2. Defense isn't as brutal as it has been. Missing Cam Chancellor, who is holding out for more cash. Got 3 winnable home games coming up over the next month, which should hopefully steady the ship.
Out of interest i looked to see how much tickets were to go to an NFL game. HOLY SHIT. People moaning about the AFL finals ticket prices, yet the season tickets to an NFL game are more!

Loving the "NFL Redzone" show on Foxtel, get to see the action from all the games as it happens.
I have been a Dallas Cowboys fan since Roger Staubach was their quarterback...I'm old.
You could use Roger right about now! :p

haha. Calls for season to be over were obviously too preemptive.
Seattle back on the Winners board against a pretty average Chicago. But getting the last piece of the D line puzzle back (Chancellor) looked to improve it 10 fold. Offense was much better as well on Sunday.
Couple big QBs out for a few weeks it seems. Rothlisburger as well.

Seattle has 3 RB and a return kick specialist already. I'm not sure why they would pick him up, but i'm still an NFL noob. Maybe to cover 2 injuries. Guess we will see.

Practice squad for the Niners is really where Hayne belongs. Its not his physical attributes that is the problem here its his lack of experience, and knowledge of the game. The NFL is big business and lots of good players get cut and resigned during the season.

Hayne may well be back in Niners uniform very soon it seems..
SAN Francisco’s game against the Rams could not have gone any worse for the 49ers’ running backs — and any better for dumped Aussie Jarryd Hayne.
Already without starter Carlos Hyde — who is out for at least two weeks with a foot injury — the ‘Niners lost Reggie Bush and Mike Davis to injury in a 27-6 defeat in St Louis. There are reports San Francisco fears Bush may have torn his anterior cruciate ligament and Davis fractured his hand.
It left Kendall Gaskins, the player San Francisco promoted at the expense of Hayne, as the only healthy running back.
But the 49ers struggled on the ground all game, finishing with their lowest rushing total in six years as Davis and Gaskins combined for just 10 yards from 15 carries.
The chaos had one 49ers scribe tipping Hayne could be immediately readded to San Francisco’s 53-man roster if he’s not claimed by another team in the next 24 hours.

And he's back onto the Training squad. I don't think you could put the blame solely on Hayne himself as to why he was initially dropped. The whole team is struggling in every aspect.
Seattle struggling on Offense (especially in 4th quarters) is frustrating to watch. They could very well be 6-2 instead of 4-4. While it is still possible to top the NFC West, i think their only hope is a Wild Card.

Redskins only proved again that the NFC East is really the NFC Least
Vikings can blame the kicker but the Bengals need to have a good look at themselves for that loss to the Steelers.
Wildcards sweep go figure
