Northam - Olde Bangers This Weekend

Northam Festival of Speed is on today and tomorrow if you feel like a cruise in the hills with something to look at.

My Ommaney Hillclimb plus town centre motor Khana today.
Round the Houses regularity for old bangers tomorrow.

Will be sliding round the town tomorrow aiming for another letter of commendation (warning) from CAMS stewards.

Well, that was fun. Our group only got yelled at once for going too fast. So we gave it as much of a go as allowed.
Out in the track in a pack of great old cars, genuine group c commode, A9X, 68 Camaro, fastback mustang, charger 340 V8, you get the picture, if not the great sounds.

Highlight: one of the local little brothers said my car was Dardy.

It was a good day out :) I saw your car out there, 200 mph, it looked/sounded amazing.

What happened in the first race you were in after lunch? I saw you dominating for the first couple laps with the torana breathing down your neck, then in 4th place for the next?

No problems, just backing off a bit to keep the timers off my back (went 4 seconds under my allowable time when I passed two cars in one lap) and to have a view of some classic race cars up close. Best seat in the house is on the track, and seeing as we were not racing, you have a bit of time to enjoy the view.

Getting close means copping some paint damage however: copped a big bundy in my door early in the day, took out a decent bite of paint and gelcoat. Luckily that door paint is already gone, so no loss really.

Looks like a bit of fun Julian. Might have to have a chat re Albany. Have been keen to get down there for the long weekend hillclimbs but have wondered weather the cooker might get a start for the Sunday round the houses and make more of a weekend of it.

Dad went down there for a look and took some videos. I'll see what's on there and post up if it's any good. He went down last year as well. Loves it
