Peeling it is the best way.
If it comes off in small sections, use a dry microfiber cloth to rub at it, should get most of it off. Failing that, soak it in WD40 and try again with the microfiber cloth.

Does hitting it with compressed air through a fine point air director help with peeling it?

Problem is with the rims its on its a bit of a pain in the ass to peel it off. Its coming off in tiny sections and not big enough chunks.
Had heard about soaking in WD40 and hitting with high pressure cleaner however means pulling rims off car just to get it off.

I had a similar issue on my simmons wheels. Try spraying WD40 on it, leaving it for 5 minutes and hitting it with a microfibre cloth. I left the wheels on my car when I did this.

Hit it with some WD and use a Pressure washer to get the side up and then it should peel in chunks .
Citrus oil. Wipes right off
