Car wouldn't start this afternoon (VDJ79R 4.5 V8) was all good beforehand save it didn't start the first crank this morning which it usually does, thought I must have released the key a touch early.

I've got a ScanGuageII on the dash brought up the code P0335.
google tells me it's a crankshaft angle sensor.

not a big issue, got a mate who works at Odin auto parts and I can get one Monday.

Is there much involved with the change over? Looks like a plug and a bolt and not much else. Does it need to go a certain way?
I've come from carbys and old school indirect injection diesels, all this electronic gear is a but of a head fuck so far.

Cheers

Also go near the timing cover on each side and check your camshaft sensor plugs are plugged in and wires are ok.
Sometimes it will bring up a crankshaft sensor code if the cam sensors are not reading because it senses a difference between the 2 readings, 99% the code will still be there after you replace the crank sensor.
Also check the harness to the sensors for wires rubbed through.
Being a mre sensor they are extremely reliable.
Would also check your ecu plugs are clipped in properly
Can also have a look at the manual for a small price here

Well it's all apples again.

Called roadside assist so I could get them to have a look, realise it won't start and then tow it to the mechanics. Turns out the crankshaft angle sensor is under the air con compressor. Cbf fucking with that.

Contractor shows up, tell him the issue, he says no worries used to be a Toyota mechanic I'll have it sorted in a few minutes.
5 minutes of playing with all the plugs and give them a bit of contact cleaner and Roberts your mother's brother. Running like new again.

I used to be fairly anti road side assist but RAC threw it in with my insurance and I'm starting to come around to the idea.

Anyone else who needs to have a look at work shop manuals, Google morandah weather lc200 GSIC. There's a few other models covered as well

Cheers for all the help.
