Hello how are we?

My home is very close to being completed and id like to get some advise on what company has worked best for yall.

Im going to be living in Byford and would like to be covered for everything( flood, wind, electrical storms, thunder damage, natural causes and so on).
Id like contents insurance as well ( full replacement cover).

Id like full comprehensive automotive cover as well with agreed value.

Iv done some research and SGIO seem to have the best cover on all except motor cover where they've only offered 5k agreed value for my patrol.

Any help would be appreciated

Thanks

Marti

Shannons

Guaranteed the first quote from them will not be the cheapest but work on them a bit and you should be able to get it down, particularly if you bundle your car(s) in the deal. As a bonus you get coverage for shed stuff, tools, etc at no cost.

I just switched from Allianz to them, Allianz were cheaper but when their premium went up the difference between them and Shannon's wasn't huge and the service from Shannon's is worth it imo

I ended up going with my bank (commonwealth) who has the mortgage to my house, it was cheaper than sgio and covered all my tools and bits in the shed as well as the cars and bikes.

I went SGIO when we built ours early last year as they seemed the best with the most decent price. I tried Shannon's (as had 2 cars with them) so thought throw house and contents surely it would be decent price. like for like cover they were a lot more expensive (even with 2 cars with them for many years) than sgio (no cars with them). I followed up with shannons after the SGIO quote and they wouldn't budge at all so stuck with SGIO

Be very careful with CBA. They are a right pain in the ass when it comes time to claim.
You need receipts for everything your claiming or at a minimum, photographs of the items in your home.

Not only that banks use a third party person to .make the decision. Usually not in your favour.
When asking for a quote ask who is the assessing company and if third party why the third party is used.

Home and contents, 2 cars and 1 bike all with Shannons. Other bike is with IMR due to being a new rider.

Have had 2 claims, one for vehicle/house theft and one for a vehicle break in. Both times everything was sorted and received payout within 2 weeks.

You're dead right. They send out a contracted assessor to do their nasty work. We were lucky, we got a good assessor.
His advice after the claim was to find another insurer, which we did. We've been with SGIO and had no dramas since (no claims either though).

i got shannons for 2 cars and renters contents insurance.

never had to claim on the home insurance but the one time i did with the car it was an overly positive experience. i assume their service would be just as good for home insurance, therefore i dont really give a shit if its a few bucks more than some other company thats going to jerk me around.

Ask if comsure use Lumleys as insurance underwriters still. If they do, run! They are unbelievably bad.

Currently Shannons for my 32... best for miles.
But our family car + house is with AAMI due to them being significantly cheaper (than Shannons) for the same level of cover.

Shannons can be funny... Two years ago with the Vitara I went with QBE because the quote from shannon's was 40% higher and they wouldn't move.

Traded Vitara for Tiguan and the Shannon's quote was HALF the QBE quote which is an absolute bonus because I prefer them anyway and it's nice to have the Skyline, the home and contents etc all under one policy.

Maybe they don't like insuring slow cars?

Shannons have always been good for us

Every two or three years, I ring around, then try to screw Shannons down a little bit

the datto should be insured under your house insurance as furniture.
