awesome pricing for brembos
Paul is looking at producing his own bracket kit to fit VT-VZ, hopefully a slightly smaller diameter rotor and new brackets can be used to allow 18" wheels with the 6pot front calipers. :)

Purchased my set of REDLINE Brembo Brakes from EMPIRE yesterday :) should be sent out in the post soon hopefully.
Complete shit-fight to buy them (not you guys). Went to purchase these off your eBay site and it kept knocking back my account / password, so had to get a family member to buy them on her account.
Looking forward to some real stopping power!
Standard offset Commodore 18" ? I was under the impression it was 19" minimum.
Tre-Cool
24-10-2014, 09:40 AM
You can run them with an 18" on the front fine, but like all brakes offset needs to be right.
Rears are slightly bigger than the front so again it's hit and miss with your wheel design.
Paul if you want to copy the adapters I have. Give me a free set when your done as payment. :-)
to fit the rotors you just need to have the centre hole enlarged and some rings placed in the lug holes to take up the clearance difference between 14 to 12mm studs.

Would they fit under 19" SS-V rims on the VZ ?

19" SS-V Rims won't clear the Brembo brakes... You'd need Redline Rims or similar..

Considering 19" SSV rims (still regret getting rid of them) fit over the 6pot AP fronts and 4pot AP rears, surprised the brembo's don't...
The_Senator
24-10-2014, 12:22 PM
They don't clear, Dean.. the SS-V Rims hit on the caliper... That's why Holden used Redline rims... which are crappy..
I Put 6 POT Bear Brakes on, they clear easily.. so I could keep the SS-V rims..
Did not your AP brakes slightly foul on the SS-V rims and needs a little "clearance"?

AP must use a very compact caliper. There isn't a huge amount of space behind REDLINE wheels either (with the extra offset over VE SSV rims):

As Tre-Cool said - "Its all about the offset"!!
Can fit fine with 18"
My Monaro runs the 6/4 set-up with 18" rims no problem

Would SSVs with spacers work? I really like my rims :(
Brockas
25-10-2014, 12:41 PM
Wheel clearance is always difficult to calculate because the spoke design can be the determining factor.
To help out, I've measured the distance between the caliper bolt holes and the front of the 6-piston caliper. This should allow you to get under your car and see if they will work. Keeping in mind that the 370mm rotors mean they sit further out towards the edge of the rim than the standard calipers, which should help a bit for clearance if you have concave rims.

You need about 95mm of clearance.

Boys,
We had a bit of a price adjustment last week to account for some unforseen price rises with the calipers. The good news is that we've been able to negotiate a direct supply line and as such can offer the original prices again from now on.
The first kits have already been shipped and a few more are about to be shipped (couple of parts on back-order).
Kits can be ordered through the website:

As for rears no idea as the Redlines have standard rear brakes.

I have been doing some research overnight and came across that part number quite often
On the G8 Pontiac forums they use those bolts back and front for the CTS-V Brakes (4pot front / 4pot rear). Which are what these brakes are essentially
Thanks Ricey. I will call you guys soon

Thanks Ricey for the part numbers. Went to city holden, spotted a glorious beard in the parts department and picked up the bolts.

I got enough for the back and front (would rather fork out the extra $$$ now and less stress later) and can confirm that the bolt thread matches the calipers. I will hopefully install this weekend, if I am not moving house, and will update everyone with the outcome.

Just drove it back to Busselton - Sweet - brakes are solid without being overly aggressive.
I couldn't stomp on them too hard as the old calipers and rotors were loose in the back of the ute
Got to head up to Perth later this afternoon, so I will have a bit more fun then.
Big hats off to Bart for getting this done for me as he needed to source the correct bolts, play with the rear brake hoses, and fit alternate front pads - appreciate your hard work :-)
DAN [GTI]
15-11-2014, 05:14 PM
Thanks for all the information. Especially the brakes lines for the rear. Importantly the fact I only need to rotate them and not replace them.
I already knew the rear backing plate would need some attention to get then to fit.

Don't any performance pads squeal? I thought it was the friction materials just not at temperature?

My HC+'s used to squeal every now and then, used to take them out the back blocks, get them nice and hot, then the squeal would go away.

As a side note, the pads supplied with our kits don't squeel at all, but obviously won't pull up as well as the HC+'s on the track.

Now when bleeding these brakes is it inner bleeder then outer bleeder? Or is there a specific way to bleed them?

You start at the bleeder furthest away from the hose going into the caliper - So the outer one first?

Yeah, I knew it was the Caliper furthest away, but not 100% if that applied to the bleeders too.

I usually bleed the inner first as the outer is fed from it. That way the outer is fed air free fluid during the bleeding process.
