Got ants fucking everywhere.
Thought they were just coming out around the kitchen but now they're in my bathroom and they're not leaving.
Anybody here had any experience trying to get rid of them with the bunnings products or other methods? I've tried salts, and killing every one of them that i see. Baiting them and then killing them. Pouring boiling water down their nests out of frustration and bug sprays.
I went outside my house this morning to check if there was a nest outside my bathroom and it would seem a lot of ants have now made my home their home.
Currently not working, would rather save my money. Anyone had any luck with these things?
The only thing that will kill the ants is this.

Don't waste your money on anything else.
+1 Amdro. Expensive but EVERYONE swears by it.

Yeah we tried the cheaper gear and it was shithouse. Up in the hills and had lines of those 1cm long black ants going about 150m between sites, across the driveway and whatnot. Used the expensive stuff and popped em. Popped em good!
edit....more I think about it it was probably only 75-100m but they were massive nests and I was amazed at the distance. Must have all just died in the holes though as I never noticed loads of dead ones around afterwards.

I've also had some success with the Mortein Ant Sand.

Amdro is highly effective for a few species of ants (mainly Coastal Brown Ants) in Perth.
If you don't have the species it targets it's completely useless and you will need to use a different bait or get a professional in.

Try it on a small area, if it doesn't work just return it to Bunnings. They take most things back without any questions if you tell you bought the wrong product.

only thing with amdro is check the expiration date
If you read the detailed instructions that come with it they also mention that effectiveness decreases significantly 3 months or so after opening
but in that first 3 months its the shiz.

Coastal browns have 2 very distinct classes (see above) which is how to easily identify them. Little bit hard to be sure from your photo but I'd imagine they are Coastals

Anyone know what people can get for white ants? Spotted some activity in the bush near my shed and want to hit them early.

Just bought Amdro on the weekend funnily enough after being recommended by a work colleague.
Going to go postal on these Coastal Browns!

Had a look in the shed and i use farmshield and Lawsban.
Seems to work. Actually seems to kill every kind of creepy crawly?
Not sure what expensive is but it's around 100 bucks for 1.lt.
I mix it at 1ml per lt of water.

We just had new paving done on the side of the house, I'm going to tip a load of Bifenthrin down there to stop any termites and other crawling things.

Farmshield is Bifenthrin so is a general purpose repellent insecticide. Will kill some and repel others, generally won't knock out nests and they will be back. Should be 5-10ml per litre not 1ml
Lawsban? No idea, never heard of it. I'm hoping you don't mean Dursban?

I think he is referring to LORSBAN... Not LAWSBAN.. However I thought that was used on crops...
Just Googled Dorsban... Controls white ants... But I am thinking it was BAD as the websites I quickly perused all list "This product is no longer available etc..." and then this "was stopped because of accumulating research linking it with serious health problems"....

Makes sense, just googled and Lorsban is Chlorpyrifos, so is the Dursban I mentioned.
Do not want!

I alternate applications every few months.
What senator said for correct spelling.
1ml per lt of water is whats on the mixing guide. Checked this morning. Also known as Dursban.
Seems to work.... :(
I spay it everywhere... don't get fruit flies on the fruit trees and the vegie patch doesn't get insect infestation either.

Works highly effectively, it's the long term health implications that are the issue.

Fucking argentine ants are the most hated thing to me - the fuckers ruined my last house hence I sold the fucker - they got into everything and half destroyed a bitumen driveway, all the paving sunk etc, nothing inside the house wa safe from them - cnuts drove me insane.
Even used arsenic dust through the house, but 12months later the fuckers were back on steriods!!

The Australia Government Pesticides and Vetinary Medicine's Authority has a good read on Lorsban.
Im short.. potent.
Residential application not to be mixed at more than 50g per litre.
Pending of plant up to 14 days before human consumption
Arial application 10-50 ml per hectare
Not illegal for domestic application but not recommended due to strict mixes.
Tested on fish, chicken, cows, dogs, rats etc where they were fed the stuff at controlled small levels. Females were affected by becoming less fertile.
Small doses nothing occured. Large doses things grew 10 legs 6 eye balls and the usual death. Lots of pages of the different animals they tested on. 619 pages of stuff they tested on. Train reading time.
Explains when I poured some in my fish pond why they were floating. ..

Awesomeness this stuff.
Used in concentrated levels for chemical warefare. Shuts down the nervous system...
New thought just came to life for my possum friend.
