Game seems a bit fucked up, the world is already too desensitized to violence so games like this dont do much to help.

morta kombat got released here after we finally got an R18+ genre. When it first came out we had MA15+ as the highest rating so they couldn't give it that therefore banned, Now we have the R 18+ rating im sure this game will get released here under that.

Most likely won't get released here due to Australia's stupid censorship thing because dumb ass parents keep buying their 12 year old kids MA15/R18 games then complain about it
Read and watched some things about this the other day, alot of hate and rage going around for this game with alot of concern coming up aswell (games make people violent etc, blah blah blah do-gooders rambling). But then again it comes down to one of those intimations where people ramble and rage about it and it ends up getting more attention then if they just left it alone
I'll probably try the game myself if it gets released, was a similar game released a year or 2 ago called hotline Miami, it was 8 bit though, similar concept, really violent etc bit no one really caused a stir about that because of the way it was presented

there is a movie with a similar theme called rampage. Why is a movie allowed but a game not
yohoes

Aside from the general "background story" / motivation of the gameplay, the gameplay itself is no worse than any other violent game?
If anything, random killing will get boring pretty quickly since theres no actual plot

Most use the whole idea that a movie is not interactive while a game is.

Has nothing to do with technology. I get that kids will play what they are told not to.
I am saying that if parents kept an eye on their kids and dint let them take guns to school and shoot up the class room.

I think it would be fair to say the internet shapes minds more then parents these days unfortunately, though you're right putting checks and balances in place does help.
Parents v a service that is now cheaply available and abundent, now that's a challenge.

Kids can be pretty resourceful, also not unheard of said kid killing to get to the guns.
Parenting is one thing, a psychotic individual is a totally different ball game.

Yeah not so much of a worry here as much as this should be a worry in the States. Given the amount of shootings they have and Parents who buy impressionable Children games like this, I can't see it ending well. I agree with what Damo said, he's a loner who wants to take out genocide towards everyone. Quite a fair difference from GTA5.

They really need one like this but based on road rage. SUV holding up traffic in the right lane, get out and fill them full of lead lol
I think it's the lack of humour that makes it a bit confronting.
Most other games that feature indiscriminate violence are at least slightly tongue in cheek.
Doesn't really appeal to me but definitely don't think it should be banned.

While a lot of people could play this game and not go and do the same thing in real life, I think there are a few that are tapped in the head and could be influenced by the game.
Should it be banned? Well I wouldnt want my kids playing it and age restrictions never work, then again banning probably wouldnt either. I strongly feel that no under 18s should play it so I guess its up to parents to ensure they know what their kids are doing on the computer. My son is 13 and his PC is in the dining room so I can monitor what hes up to. Now I just have to worry about his mates parents being as active when I know some of them dont give a shit what their kids do/see/play.

You don't see people getting off Need For Speed and suddenly racing through the streets trying to outrun the cops.
It's different and pretty in your face but meh. No care. Not really fussed on playing it either.
I was 6 when Wolf 3D was first released, and played it. Also played Doom 1 & 2, Duke Nukem. All when I was a tacker and I'm yet to commit a murder.
The connotations are different with this game but at the end of the day if someone goes on a shooting rampage the last thing you can blame for their actions is the game.
Damn, my eyes rolled so far into the back of my head, it fucked up my balance and I fell off the back of my chair.
Yeah some games have violence, but this one is being developed by a group of right-wing nationalistic, homophobic Neo-Nazis to glorify violent racism and white supremacy.
Just like GTA pls

In all retrospect video games are forms of artwork, creators express their ideas and visions in them. People seem to forget this. These days art is confrontational and pushes the boundaries. Is it morally tasteful? Maybe not to some, but it's art, it's in development and it's being released whether people like it or not. As mentioned the more people talk about it and hate on it the more attention it gets and then the more people get drawn to it.
I'm not talking about you guys, just in general.
People just need to remember games are all works of fiction, there may be some based on real locations, stories and what have you but they aren't real. I think what hits home for people is the way they are being developed and the way technology is advancing. I mean characters and location are becoming more lifelike and I think that's what is concerning people because it's easier to relate that to the real world, the line between reality and fiction gets blurred a little and it scares some. But yeah there are some fuckwits out there that are mentally unstable and do draw inspiration from this type of stuff, I mean look at that Batman shooting in America a while back.
It's the minority that ruin it for the majority (hooning, I'm sure you can all relate to that affecting you). It's a fact, and it sucks..

fuck this made me lol, so you read one news article, written by someone who doesn't agree with the premise of the game, and you take it as fact?
Damn, my eyes rolled so far into the back of my head, it fucked up my balance and I fell off the back of my chair.
When you think about POLISH game creators being neo NAZI it is actually laughable.

I'm saying I don't believe what one journalist, who hated the game, wrote about the developers. Unless they have some actual proof those articles amount to little more than conjecture. The evidence they cite in the articles is circumstantial at best - one guy liked a facebook page and another was wearing a shirt and people think that makes them neo nazis??
It's laughable because Nazi's dont like Slavs...

LOL
Yes let's blame the games for violence, music and movies for cheating and sluts, let's just find all avenues of excuses for people so that they don't have to take responsibility of their own actions.
It's a game - there'll always be a psychotic individual who will use it as an excuse, even GTA had the same issues (anyone recall the story? From memory it was a kid who shot a cop or something along those lines?) - people need to look at the individual themselves, not the game.
I played Manhunt/GTA etc as a kid and I'm not running around killing people.
