Hey guys,

My Ca18det Had been miss-firing and idling off for a while, i eventually put it down to the inlet manifold gasket, after replacing coilpacks with splitfires.
while the inlet was off i thought it would be a good idea to fit a Sard FPR, once all back together and the fuel base pressure set to standard 36-38psi she started without any problems..
and idled fine, but under boot the missfire returns with a nice big cloud of unburnt fuel out the exhaust.

Has anyone had any experience with Aftermarket FPR and ca18dets (4 port) or should i just bin it and put the standard FPR back in?
Or is there something simple im missing?

If someone else has answered a similar question else where i apologize in advance i spent an hour searching...

Cheers Daniel

Had a mate with a 33 that was having similar issues, I told him to change the fuel filter as well as check the pump and voltage , argued saying it poured out fuel at idle etc, chenged the filter, instant free revving and boost for days, maybe have a look at that.

Also check the alternator is spitting out decent voltage, had a Pulsar doing similar stuff, turns out it was putting out like 10v max due to shitty wiring.

Do these run an ignitor like the earlier RB's?
Maybe swap with a known good one to test as well.

The plugs come with a 1.1 gap my i have re gapped them to 0.8, they are new but were quite fouled up because of the engine running soo rich, i cleaned them problem still continues. she drives fine off boost. a bit smokey, its when you try get positive pressure it starts missing and spluttering.

The fuel pump has only done 20,000kms since install but i have changed the filter pad already as the is a bit of rust in the tank, thats well worth a try as they are only $5 cheers, im starting to think the regulator is rising the rate of pressure too much on boost, maybe ill try the standard reg and see if she runs any better, Thanks everyone for the help. Much appreciated.

I was more talking about the inline filter, if there is shit in the tank, then the stone catcher filter on the pump would have likely let shit through.

It's odd that the stock pressure is so low, Nissans usually sit at 43 psi as standard.

Tried swapping out CAS's for a known good one as well ?

I have replaced the inline filter in the engine bay also, Thats the factory fuel pressure for a ca18det as per the owners manual, i does seem quite low though. i have replaced the ignitor with a few spares i have had lying round with no change, i havent checked the cas, however the car was running/boosting fine before the inlet manifold gasket/fuel reg were replaced.. however the car idles and runs much smoother off boost. i will take a video tomorrow and upload it to youtube and post the link on here so you can see what im talking about.

You've put something back wrong then, if it was fine before you fucked with it, then work your way back.

The only Thing That has been fucked with was the new Fuel Pressure Regulator, Hence why im asking if someone has has any experience with aftermarket FPR's and Ca18dets,

CAs are prone for melting coilpack harnesses/coilpacks plugs.

My old one split all 4 under where you couldn't see them. See if you can borrow some coilpacks from an rb20, and find another harness to try as well.

Have you tried putting the fpr the right way around yet?
Or swapped it back for the stocker?
