This has been doing the rounds lately, so many of you may have seen it: http://news.epicinter.net/video-mother-allows-release-of-hard-hitting-footage-of-her-sons-motorcyle-death-on-a47/
Sad story for both the rider involved and obviously his family that are left to pick up the pieces. Just goes to show that even after 22 years of riding you're not immune to idiots on the road. Be careful out there guys.

The rider was at fault as well, he was doing 90mph when the collision happened. 3 times the posted speed limit I believe.

Still a very chilling video to watch, especially when you see the camera motionless after the collision.

Both parties at fault really, one for speeding and the other for not looking before turning.

We are all guilty of speeding, could happen to any of us really and not just motorcyclists.

soo true, being smaller than the other vehicles when viewed from front on doesnt help either as you are in the following vehicles blind spot... and it dont matter if you on a bike or a small car (although small car may have survived)....

also freaky when you slow it down and see how far away he was when he actually realised the car was pulling out and there was nothing he could do.... (been there, had a car run a stop light and not see me when I was on road pushie some years back... it is like everything slows down but there is no time to actually get out of the way or do any effective braking or avoidance, then darkness....................................)

There is fault on both sides, but it was a bad result for everybody.
I think he was doing 100MPH (160KPH) in a 60 MPH zone, so definitely speeding but not quite 3 times the limit. When the police interviewed the driver of the car that pulled out he said he didn't see the bike or the silver car the bike overtook so I'd say he wasn't looking.
That said after an accident like that he was probably pretty shook up himself so his memory could be unreliable.

We have all done stupid things on the road, difference is we have been lucky enough to get away with it. This bloke wasn't.

Both parties were to blame, had the rider been going slower (or faster) he would have missed the car.

Had the car been paying more attention he would have noticed the bike traveling a lot faster than it should and not turned.

I had this exact scenario happen to me one night ($2.00 + in a 70), yep, very stupid. Had the driver of the bus not been paying attention like the driver of the car was I wouldn't be here today.

this video sends chills down my spine.
RIP to the rider.
we all like to enjoy the ride. we have all had people pull out in front of us; I suppose we have all been lucky.
