Just thinking this might be a good place to organise some days out for everyone on here, I've been out with Mike a few times now and had some great runs, I'm not great with the GPS at the moment but always keen to head out when I can.
I've got a couple of mates keen on having a look around the dwellingup area on my next weekend home (13th)

could be keen, issue I have is having a fuel tank the size of a lunchbox (280ks to a tank), I have a 20L jerry mounted as well so would have about 400ks range. But as long as servo's before going out bush should be ok.
Yeah i'd be keen, getting sick of lancelin/wilbinga every weekend.

Dwellingup area is very wet at the moment, was down that way on weekend just gone. All the rivers have broken their banks and this would of been prior to all the run off reaching them.
We done Cpt Fawcett track a couple weeks back before all the rains and even then the track was very wet with a few over the bonnet mud holes that had no chicken tracks or possible way around.
I'd say Harvey and Brunswick will be much the same at the moment.
would be keen on Julimar or red hill if not to extreme. Got a defender 130 series dual cab

Was down at Harvey a fortnight ago, took a mate down with a stock Amarok. More than enough down there to have fun with stock/lightly modified vehicles. Would be happy to lead a trip but will be away in Africa for the next 4 weeks.

Interested, though I don't have any recovery gear yet and only have a body lift and bigger tyres. Hilux should do ok though.
Edit: I have a bunch of tow straps, shovels and jumper leads though.

they're pretty cheap, supercheap & BCF sell pretty good 8-10t straps and shackle combos for like 80 bucks. Buy a shovel (pointy end, not spade) and you're set. Don't opt for a cheap one tho, seen a bunnings special ones snap. Average joe one would be fine.

Bummer, like I said before it went up over my bonnet briefly ( gq 2inch lift ) and sure got the heart pumping as fast as the river for a while.

Throw some dates around after mid october and I will do a sea to scarp run - tims thicket to myalup in the morning and then harvey hills after lunch.

This.
Also not that keen on trying to cross ocean at high tide, so I'll bow out if there is a beach run.

Only bad thing about going with a bigger group into challenging terrain is it becomes a headfuck and traffic jam. People soon get annoyed waiting in there car while the cars in front of them drive over a section or do a hill climb, they drive over what ever it is, they then have to wait while the remainder cars drive said section. So for 10-15min of driving you end up waiting another hour or more. Some people enjoy this but most end up complaining and not having a good time.
Or one unprepared inexperienced person comes along does something stupid or breaks something and the day is ruined for the rest of the group as you can hardly say "yep tow trucks on its way, cya"
I'll happily lead out Julimar but would have to limit number or vehicles.

I'd be keen once I get my Lux engineered.. On that note.. Anyone know a good engineer??
We usually go out the powerline track for a few kms and head in south east where me and Turboesky ride our dirt bikes, some great mud spots and good camping areas up the back, we got lost a bit coming back but the phones work on the big hills, nothing damaging but your car would need a wash afterwards ;)

that happens just driving around on your own, having a good time, minding your own business. Next minute some blokes got stuck or broken something for doing dumb shit and
all of a sudden you find yourself involved for an hour. Same deal, cant just leave em be as karmas a bitch.

Ser 1 & 2 GU Patrols had a key to hold 5th gear on the shaft with heavy towing the keyway would flog out eventually and the gear would spin on the shaft. This is what has happened to me unfortunately.
So now on the lookout for a Ser 3 box as thats when they changed to a much larger/stronger spline shaft & gear. Still have 1-4 and reverse but i am yet to drain the box and get the bits of metal out. Patrol is currently on the top of my "things i cant be fucked with right now" list.

Goodbye fuel efficiency.
once it passed about 30,000km my d40 started to get 8-9s on the highway and 6-7s around town, it was very good on fuel, 6 speed 4 pot diesel.
Went thomas rd lake/mud flats last night, good fun only 1 or 2 real deep areas
Then went telegraph lane, wow, only 2 cars mildly modded almost got stuck there. hilux went swimming twice and the nav was alll over the shop trying to pull him out. Would be good during the day though, just deep

I will be keen once I do the tires and transfer on the sierra, the current tires are shithouse and the transfer case is in desperate need of some gears.
anyone know where you can get cheap 31x10.5x15 's new or 2nd hand?
it seems like there isn't any decent 2nd handies even pop up over here. looking over east there is an abundance of choice for pretty cheap prices but here everyone wants drug money for flogged out shit

When I used to live in Jarrahdale, there used to be spots that in the summer that never really dried out, but I guess the Powerlines are a bit more exposed.
Powerlines isnt even that good. Head to brunswick if you actually want to test yur car properly.
I'm not a hardcore offroader, just learning what my car can and can't do, never driven the Powerlines, just because it isn't even that good, doesn't mean I shouldn't try it.
I'll try other stuff more hardcore when I get a bit knowledgeable and my front diff lock and tighten the rear diff up a bit, but for now I'm happy to do the average stuff till I'm more confident in mine and my cars abilities.

17-12-2014, 12:18 PM
Powerlines is constantly changing, it was graded flat a few years back and was pretty much a 2wd drive all the way, these days it's getting pretty chewed out and rutted again from fuckwits with big tyres and open diffs getting hung up and spinning 2 wheels. They just dig massive holes and pretty much fuck the obstacle.

I used to be able to drive 99% of the obstacles at the Powerlines with ease. I went out last weekend and couldn't drive a fair few of the obstacles without significant effort. A significant number were impassable. I run a locked GU coil cab on 35s. The track is getting very interesting - it is obvious that some people with much larger tyres than I have been out there and chewed it up.

I think its more so just people with no idea hitting stuff with tyres aired up then just going full throttle. Rather than picking a possible line they just dig holes while their mates woop and cheer about how awesome they are.

Yeh but it does make it more challenging for those that do know how to drive.
There was an 80 and a SWB GQ in front to me limiter bashing on the power lines a few months ago, smashing cars in to the side of things, I kept following them everywhere idling along without damage... was interesting none the less.
