Hey all,
I'm looking at putting a roller door in my garage for rear access, just wondering if anyone has been through this process. I'm assuming I'll need a structural engineer to check it over if anyone is or has any good contacts?
Any info would be greatly appreciated,
cheers

How did you go with this?
Looking at getting a roller door put on mine that is already open so probably won't need an engineer.
Who did you end up using?

Just cut a hole, put in a lintel and whack in a roller door. Job done. Too small to worry about the council being involved.

I would do this but kind of want the roller door recessed inside my roof to keep the clearance height I have now.

Have ordered beam (thanks to magic1's advice, much appreciated)
Away at work at the moment, so beam should arrive when i'm back (got it from midalia steel)
Called council, they weren't bothered about it. Will install beam and cut hole hopefully this break, will post up pics when done.

Bit of an update, managed to get this done over the weekend. Managed to pick up a roller door and motor off gumtree for $250! Few pics of the process.
