I'm looking into getting a small dinghy for a bit of a fish on the river and potentially take away on short trips.
I came across a local company, Finn kayaks that produce 3 meter dinghies that seem to fit the bill. Has anyone had any experience with them? I'm looking into the spindrift model, similar to below.

a friend had one with a 2.5hp outboard, i thought it sat very low in the water. What are they worth?
Can pick up 2nd hand ali dinghy for around $2k of gumtree. Ali ones aint that heavy my 3mtr one i had i could carry on my shoulder myself

Just over 1k new, then what ever a outboard cost on top.
55 kg without motor is a nice manageable weight and being a local made company is a bonus also.

Managed to pick up 3 meter Spindrift and a 5hp mercury outboard tonight, will report back after the weekend to see how it goes on the river.

Reminds me when i picked up a seagull outboard motor off the curbside collection. . Maybe 2 hp. Placed it into a 44 and gave it a good ol tune. Then I thought the shaft looks so thin. How strong could it be? Threw in a empty coke can. Prop let go at full rpm. Shit everywhere.
Love backyard R&D.

I took her out today for the maiden voyage, while it is no speed demon it's a bunch of fun and will be great come summer for a fish and a relax on the swan.

Looks like a great hassle free rig for what you want to do with it, plenty space for crab pots as well :D
