Ford auto transmission sounds sick.. [Archive]

Dec 2009 build ford territory rwd 4 speed auto.
Today after just 47,000 Km's there in a noise that sounds a bit like cardboard in bike wheel spokes but much quieter coming from the tranny.
Anyone had this before? Does it in 1st and 4th, but does go away, but from what I can tell so far it seems to be here to stay..
No fluid leaks or slipping gears.

Not what I need right now!

planetry gearset may possibly have a tiny chip in a tooth. Have had a few come through with similar noises at rebuild time

yep took it to an auto tranny place in mccoy st myaree yesterday - exactly what he said.

noise is there in 1st and slightly in 4th (definitely on the overrun in 4th)
its not too bad yet as it hasnt fucked 2nd yet, i got quoted $1800 to $2000 for a complete job.

4.5 years old & 46,000 kms, what a pingpingpingping.

$3000 for complete rebuild including torque conveter and external cooler

cheers ... ouch , you didnt happen to get that extended warranty......

ours has just clicked over 185K... 08 rwd tty. (got it 14 months ago and put a quick 80K on it.....)

no i didnt, i knew it would be doing fuck all km's so the extra 2 grand or what ever it was for the warranty didnt seem worth it.
dec 2009 build btw.
in over 20 years of driving & 40+ cars its the biggest & practically only breakdown bill ive had, so havent done too bad i suppose
